I like how we all have our areas of interest...  I'm into French and Italian, Paul is into quads, Chris loves his Daybills.  It does make sense that we primarily collect what we are most accustomed to... and what we have easier access to.  It is what defines us and what makes collecting so interesting.

I focused on getting a few more one sheets this year and also linen backing 17 more daybills. I think I brought about 50 posters all up in 2012.

Got around a dozen lobby cards which is also down on previous years.

Congrats to everyone.
Been closely looking at all your purchases and there are some VERY nice items.

1400 posters per year is phenomenal, T.
I thought I was obsessive with Bond!

Anyway, great year for many!
Best wishes,
Adam

Ahhhh...  Every time I think I'm done for the year I keep being drawn back in...  Freakin' hobby.  Green Mansions and Funny Face.  Sorry for the bad pix.  I'll post better ones on my website after Christmas.

They are both 24x32in.  Here are the larger versions, which I also own...

Yeah, it's probably a little obsessive, but if they're out there at a good price, someone has to get them, right?

Gotta say there are other people's favourite purchases of 2012 that have gone on my envy list....

T - I have fawned after that Tradita ever since I saw it, I still have a spot reserved at my house if I ever find one, it is beautiful
Kovac - Pale Rider is the best version I have seen, Clint strumming a pistol is great
Matt - don't remember that Superman one, pretty awesome
Steve - your six sheeters are always a brilliant you are to be congratulated on all of them
Crowzilla - Bogie is sexy
Starling - not a fan of Bette, but that is really a great poster
Matais - I think the Isabel Sarli one is awesome simply as I remember the story you added about the sig when you first posted it, plus she was hot in her day...
Mel - since you moved into the 40s/50s you rarely put a foot wrong, I love almost all of them
Charlie - Grace Kelly, Green Fire is just lovely
Paul - Barbarella is definitely a highlight

My favorite purchases of the year... sorry of some of the crappy pics:

February: London After Midnight - local jumbo WC

March: Evil Dead - pre-wide-release silkscreen 1-sheet

March: Dr. No - French slim

March: From Russia with Love - UK quad

May: Anatomy of a Murder - 1-sheet

June: Full Metal Jacket (signed by Kubrick) - UK quad

August: Sunset Boulevard - Polish

August: Birds - Polish (right) is new this year...

August: Star Wars - Russian billboard

September: Apocalypse Now (creepy-Brando napalm style) - Japanese B0

October: Wolf Man - lobby

November: Spy Who Loved Me - UK Marler Haley quad

November: Attack of the 50ft Woman - 1-sheet -- I'm happy too as I found the big paper chip from the left edge in the bag it came in... I might have to break down and get this one linen-backed.  It's quite fragile.

I might have one or two more surprises for you as well... some that I haven't yet taken possession of ;)

Definitely looks like many of us had pretty darn good 2012s.

Probably for the best seeing as the world will be ending shortly...

But look on the positive side, it will end here well before it ends for you, therefore as a gesture from me to you I hereby bequeath all my daybills to you for those 19 hours until you catch us up...if the world does not end then tough titties, they're still mine.  :D

What a tremendous year so far.  There hasn't been a poster posted yet that doesn't make me green with envy.
Congratulations, poster whores.
This thread is a thing of beauty.

Agreed...some beautiful posters in this thread. It's great that you guys take the time to share, I really enjoy seeing all the different posters (even through the pangs of jealousy!!).

My fave 3 that I have bought this year are:

The Thing - UK One Sheet. I love this film and have long admired the UK one sheet...saw a rolled copy pop up and was thrilled to win it

Requiem for a Dream - UK Quad. I started collecting about a year after this came out so missed it and they seem to be pretty scarce (perhaps the theatrical run wasn't very large). I finally saw one on ebay that was framed...took a gamble that it'd be in good condition when removed from the frame and luckily it was! I think the design is pretty striking, a bit like the film.

Blade Runner - 30" x 40". I'm a big Blade Runner fan and have had a one sheet on my want list since I started collecting (I have a quad, but prefer Alvin's artwork). I've have either been too poor to afford one or been put off by authentication worries, so was really pleased to grab a 30 x 40.

Nice posters Tob.  I did not know the UK one sheet existed for the Thing.  I always liked the art on the quad, and UK one sheet is the best of both worlds. Very well done.

I have a folded copy of this poster.  Congrats on finding a nice rolled one.  I usually don't care whether a poster is rolled or folded, but it does make a difference on darker posters.
