 :)

I found it worth the heavy price but Im a bit of a fanboy.

In yesterday. At last I have a proper table book.

Great stuff. Page after page of quality. Bob was a very busy man there for a while. Between movie posters, Time and TV Guide covers, Advertising, Olympics, sports, fashion, travel  and just his own art there was a lot going on.

Price was steep but it is good stuff. I am a bit worried about the book falling apart. Its heavy and I dont have a soft touch.  8)

Thanks Zorba, I didn't realise it had been out for so long. It looks nice, but postage to the UK is rather steep. I'll keep an eye out for it at a good price.

Tob, I have it and have to say it's worth every penny as it's brilliantly put together and is pretty much exhaustive in its contents. It contains a load of alternate designs and roughs of his other work that are exclusive to the book. You won't get hit by customs either as books pass through free. Go for it!

It is definitely loaded. For example, there is much Rollerball and especially Apocalyspe Now that I had not seen before.

Picked this one up after seeing it in the book.

We should launch a crowd-funding campaign to finance APF field trips to events like this.
Seriously.

I'm a huge fan of Bob Peak too, love his art, and have many of his poster designs.

Oh, how I long to go to that exhibition. If I sold my two most valuable posters, I could probably make it and am pondering on this right now.  It'd be a once in a lifetime experience.  The field trip idea is a brilliant one. Perhaps we need a charity for impoverished but passionate poster collectors?  :-)

For those in the UK, this amazing book is on amazon.co.uk at the moment for £69.00 + £2.80 postage.

I got my copy from seller Amazonbookpalace, it says that it is used however it is brand new, still shrink wrapped and in presentation box,  and arrived in one day. Definitely worth the dosh, it's a quality product and £2.80 postage is a dream as it weighs about 4 kilos.

Don't need to fund this.  Anyone in the US can fly into Austin for a Mondo "show" (like the upcoming Ansin show), buy a bunch of prints, flip 'em, and then fly to Glendale.  You'd at least break even....

So I was at my friend's house today for the first time and noticed he had the Bob Peak hardcover book.  I casually opened the front cover and found an photo of him as a kid with Mr. Peak.  Of course, as a collector, my casual interest turned into holy-shit-interest :o.  This guy, having no idea I collect posters, said, "Oh yeah, that is my great uncle Bob.  He did art for a bunch of movies, my favorite is his Apocalypse Now stuff."  I then explained that I actually collect film art and have quite a few of his great uncle's posters.  As it turns out, Bob Peak was his grandma's brother.  Small world........

Great story, Schan..

i like these kinds of stories and the randomness of either meeting people or discovering things like this about friends, relatives, etc.

A seeming small world, at times.

Tongdee had me purchase the Peak book for him earlier this year. I believe Peak is his greatest influence.

Great minds...  Mwright, Has Tongdee mentioned if Peak and he ever interacted?  They certainly overlapped some in time and movie posters they created.  Okie
