Little Mermaid:  1997rr (below right) is better than the 1989 first release IMO:

Agreed. I've always felt that the RR followed in style from some of the later (relative to the initial release) Disney Renaissance animations:

Seeing them all together is stunning, at least for me. Some of my favorite posters right here.

Boy, did the Realart art dept alter Chaney's image (him carrying the damsel) when they did the 1953 RR poster for Man-Made Monster (1941)

The ultimate in Re-release brilliance.The '68 original,then the '71 re-release.

@Anthony

I own the re-release and it looks amazing in person. I think IMHO I prefer the '71 version over the '68. Although I would still like to own the '68 version as well lol.

Oh yeah!! The colors of the re-release really pop in person.Surprised me a bit when I first opened it up.One of the favs in my collection.Yeah,it's no contest,the re-release blows it away!
Honestly,I never liked the '68 too much but over the years it's starting to grow on me. :)

Wizard of Oz (1939 and R1949 US inserts). I think the '49RR is actually great and has wonderful imagery, too. Me likes.  thumbup

So I think the one on the left is from the original 1933 release and the one on the right is the re-release poster (1939?).  Who can find the proof?

I'm thinking the Tooker Litho logo, on the OS on the left, would indicate that to be the first release OS.

Plus, the artwork is better on the left OS. The art on the right looks like it was redone (and the faces of the other actor and actress look less refined to me, too). And the names of the producer and screenwriter were left off the right sided OS, too.  ;D
