Japanese B1 sleeves and backing board
« on: January 02, 2024, 04:51:30 PM »
Hello APF! New member here.

I am a large collector of Pride event posters, which was an MMA organization in Japan between 1997 and 2007. The poster sizes that they produced were main B3s, B2s and B1s.

For B3s and B2s there are a few sites that offer mylar sleeves and backing boards, but there is absolutely nothing for Japanese B1 sized posters that I can find anywhere.

B1 = 728 x 1030mm, 28.66 x 40.55in
B2 = 515 x 728mm, 20.27 x 28.66in
B3 = 364 x 515mm, 14.33 x 20.27in

Bagsunlimited seems to have the most options but they are pretty reluctant to make this size. I'm trying to talk them into it but I don't think they're going to do it.

The closest available size is the British quad size poster, but unfortunately those are about 1/2in too short and won't fit these Japanese B1 posters.

Anyone know where I can buy what I need so I can properly archive this poster size in my flat file cabinet?

I don't want foam boards for backing, I want acid free backing board. This is probably about double the thickness of poster board you would buy at Walmart but much thinner than corrugated cardboard.

 welcome1

The Pride posters are cool.  A lot of interesting artwork and all.

When I had a flat file cabinet, I had B1s in Bags Unlimited poly sleeves that are the British quad size and they worked fine.  I just checked their website and it says they're 30-1/4" x 42" - 1.5" longer than a B1.  I'm not sure why that doesn't work for your application, but maybe someone knows of another place where they're made or will custom make them longer than 42".

Yes, the bags will work but the boards won't. The British quad boards are 40" and the Japanese B1 posters are 40.5".

Ok just the acid-free backing boards from bags unlimited won't work.  Maybe you can get quotes from local framing shops.  That may be the best option since the shipping would be expensive with buying online.
