"The Big Carnival" is such a stupid title for Wilder's cynical classic I just had to get the snipe off to reveal the much more appropriate "Ace in the Hole"

Good snipe removal there, Chris. Looks awesome.

Did you do it yourself, with lighter fluid or Bestine?

Does Van Heflin's chin also "possess" some unique gravitational powers?

Chris, I do dream of one day seeing a Southern Hemisphere dunny swirl!  I want to seem well traveled, though I only know the word "dunny" from Mr. Dundee.  Thanks again for showing off your southern swirlies.  Okie

I really like the ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT daybill. From the looks of it Kaaren Verne really seems to dig Bogie.

A recent purchase, this poster for The Man from Planet X has been on my wish list for quite a few years.  I kept coming across linen backed copies, so I was glad to finally get my hands on an unrestored one.  I always loved that image.

I like it, too!  Congratulations on a "raw" example, Antoine! A great bubble headed space helmet for sure!  Okie

I haven't seen the movie, so it's hard for me to comment on the poster, but I love its look.

Man from Planet X (1951) was directed by the great Poverty Row auteur Edgard G. Ulmer, who was also responsible for 1934's The Black Cat (arguably the best pairing of Karloff and Lugosi), as well as the fantastic Detour (1945), widely considered one of the best film noir ever made.  This very atmospheric movie is somewhat unusual for a 1950s sci-fi flick in that the visitor from Planet X is initially benevolent (that is until the evil human scientist tries to exploit the alien for his own nefarious intent), which was rare in movies of that decade (the other notable exception to that rule is The Day the Earth Stood Still, which also came out in 1951).  It was shot in 6 days, and Sally Field's mom Margaret Field plays the female lead.  Paper for this film is relatively rare and can be hard to find unrestored.

Antoine, if I were to say "I want these 5 images from Siegfried" these 3 would be among them. Siegfried is one of my favorite films, having seen it the first time when I was 10 or 11. Personally, I think the framing & composition of Siegfried meeting the Dragon is the best one, but the superb imagery of any is off the charts. the kill scene is #35, what a task it would be trying to put this set together

by the way, Man From Planet X is great

I agree, Richie, very cool!  I'm glad you found these great photos.  I would have snatched them up as well.  I thought I might see you at Cinevent this year, but alas I'm traveling too much for work these weeks.  Congrats again!  Okie

I've bought both the one sheet and three sheet recently for the 1947 rerelease of Black Friday.  The movie is just okay, though I really like Karloff's image with the hypodermic needle on the posters.  Also, from the Bela Lugosi Blog, here is a link to the May 5, 1940, newspaper ad from the New Orleans Times Picayune not far from where I live.   https://beladraculalugosi.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/black-friday-the-times-picayune-may-5-1940.png
 Here's the three sheet:
