LE Incredible Mr Limpet Animation Cel
« on: June 10, 2017, 10:19:56 PM »
Wandered over to the small, second hand shop this afternoon, and came across this framed, limited edition Incredible Mr. Limpet animation cel, put out by Warner Bros. This one is #178/350 and is signed by Don Knotts. The one I found is #178/350. It was $30.00, and I always liked this movie as a kid, so I went for it.

I decided to do a little research on it when I got home, and found that this edition was put out in 1997 by WB. The edition was 350 copies and each was signed by Mr Knotts.  The cell measures 10.5x22 inches and was hand painted and placed on a lithographed background. I found several galleries online that have this for sale. All three have it listed at $550.00 - and that is an unframed.  :o

The CoA is under the backboard and frame, so until i decide to unscrew and dismantle the frame, I found a copy of another online, which explains more fully what this item is.

I was a little stoked to find this, first and foremost because i always found it to be a fun flick and we would always watch it when it came on.

Whoa, nice one.  Are you an avid visitor to second hand stores?  You've had some pretty darn good finds recently.

Its a small shop very near my local post office, so a further 1 min. walk takes me to their front door.

I dont know much about cel or animation art, and seeing it was a LE run, I thought I might be getting it for close to what it normally would sell for in other places. I had no idea.

Sounds like a good and convenient place for great finds.

And all the $$ they take in from sales (aside from salaries and rental space costs, utilities etc) goes to various women and children's charities, so I know it's for a good cause.

And the fact that this cel is already matted and framed is another neat perk, as it can go right up on the wall.

Saw a guest was looking at this post, Jeff.  I'm with you in loving this movie!  Gosh, remembering back in the day wondering when TV would rerun it, eh?! Like waiting for the old yearly TV broadcast of The Wizard of Oz.. What incredible access we have to movies today.  Great belated congrats on finding this LE cell from Limpet!  Okie
