Yes, I feel extremely fortunate to have this Return of the Living Dead painting.  We lived in Thailand one summer a few years ago. I was able to spend quite a bit of time with some great collectors and dealers while there. Good times!

Did you happen to buy this piece with the assistance or help of a Thai poster seller named Pea?

She knows Tongdee quite well and has sold other pieces of his original poster artwork to other collectors.

It would be great to know how you came to find this piece and eventually acquire it.  :D

Thanks for the questions! Let's just say the story involves khlong boats, spicy street food, great company, and talking into the wee hours of the morning about Thai posters and artists.  Maybe some day over drinks we can share stories.

Sounds like a wonderful and exotic way to have worked out the particulars to obtain that incredible painting.

Is his the only Thai poster painting you own? Not that it would matter...when you have one of the great ones!

Yes, the only original Tongdee I have.  I do have about a three inch stack of vintage Thai posters as well.  I'll try to add some images over time.

Flash Gordon - two versions but I cannot find signature on the second uploaded poster - not sure if by Tongdee or not.

I believe the 2nd style is also by Tongdee. I think I found his signature. It's on the lower right of the art, under the 2nd line of smaller, blue Thai text. It looks like he signed in a more dark, pink color, so it blends a bit more with the background there. It got a little blurry when I zoomed in, but I think it might be his name written there.

Here's a detail grab I did. What do you think?

Cross-posting this great Tongdee poster:  Thai women beware the "Ghost Widow!" that might arouse and steal/kill your men in their sleep. I was amazed and thrilled when I first saw this incredible Tongdee painted poster in a night market in Bangkok that I used to haunt!  I hope you guys/gals enjoy it, too.  Okie

Another Tongdee cross-posting: "Tiger Machine Gun Woman!"  I'm not sure how she carried that huge machine gun in one hand with her large coat/cape over her same shoulder. Though, I've seen some Thai ladies lift very heavy boxes/baskets you wouldn't think they could. Amazing!  More Tongdee painted art for the local theatre market.  Okie

A recent screen print that Tongdee did for a commission. It’s 24 x 36”

Great print indeed.  It took me a while to find one, but I finally did.  Thanks for the heads up, Tob,

For me PSYCHO II is one of Tongdee's greatest designs. Happy Halloween!
