Title: How to classify a mini poster
Post by: Fenn on April 17, 2021, 02:23:09 PM
Hello everyone!

As I'd said in my intro, I'd worked in a movie theater back in the very late '80s to early '90s.  During that time I picked up quite a few posters.  Sometimes when there was a special screening or advance screening, there were posters that were handed out - some regular size and then some of a smaller size.  I've been going through all my posters and noting the ones that weren't full 1 sheets.  So, for example, I have what I would call a mini poster for Silence of the Lambs (all 3 designs).  The poster measures 16" x 20".  I've looked on these sites for direction on what they should be called, but don't see the size listed:

https://www.papersizes.org/poster-sizes.htm

These are genuine posters, just not one sheets.  There are some other mini posters that I have, but not of this size (that's a discussion for another time).  Any ideas how these should be classified as?

You already named it. Mini, just be sure to clarify the size in the listing title and description to be 100% transparent of the size.

The size post dated the NSS days, and really were never a classified poster size other than their dimensions.  Normally you just classify these by size. Some folks do collect these sizes, but there are a shit ton of them out there as theaters got them by the 100s as I am sure you know.

@ddilts399 - thanks for the reply!  yeah, wasn't sure if it should be called a mini or something else.  These mini one sheets were distributed when Silence of the Lambs came out.  And yep, 16" x 20" is the actual size of the poster.  I was fortunate enough to find frames to put them in.
