Just got this cool Italian 2P for Goliath and the Vampires (1961), with pulpy Symeoni artwork.
-
Raiders of the Lost Ark. 1987 India. Artist overbrushed the UK art.
-
Oh yeah, I saw that the other day. You bought it on Facebook, right?
Interesting. I wonder what the incentive was to hairbrush a perfectly fine design. Was there some legal aspect to it, like it can be the same but not really?
T

Yup stumbled into it on Facebook. Yeah I guess it gives someone a job and luckily they didn't butcher it.

I've been looking for a folded copy of Captive Wild Woman (1943) for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got my hands on this one. This completes my poster collection for the Wild Woman trilogy, as I already own the US OS for Jungle Woman (1944) and Jungle Captive (1945). All 3 movies are pretty bad, but the posters (especially for the first film in the series) are great.
-
Never heard of the Wild Woman, but I like this poster.

Hi Antoine, I bid a bit on that one as well. Nice choice! Okie

Traditional 1940's cut 'n paste.
And I agree, Rich.... Classic poster creation for films from this decade and genre. thumbup

Happy 140th Birthday to Warner Oland, who was born on this day in 1879. I bought this one sheet for Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo from Bruce's most recent major auction. I had wanted this poster for quite some time and it is my favorite Charlie Chan poster. Okie
-
Great looking poster, okie. Congrats! clap clap bed1
From the poster descrip, it sounds like this poster was in really nice, solid condition, prior to backing. I wonder why the previous owner decided to take that extra step, when it sounds/reads like it wasn't really needed. Or possibly a purely aesthetic choice.
But the stone lithography is outstanding! True poster art.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for enjoying the image with me! I'm not sure why it was backed and had slight (amateur?) restoration done probably back in the 1990s or before. I'm actually going to send it to Mario to have him deacidify, reback, and cleanup the old restoration along with working his minimalist restoration magic. I'm really glad Bruce got this particular poster back to sell again after many years. I had wondered where this beautiful copy had been living. Okie
-
Beautiful Charlie Chan poster Oakie, I remember seeing in Bruce's recent auction and admiring it. Personally I wish it wasn't backed, but that's just my own subjective hang up. Excellent pick up nonetheless.

I hear you, Antoine. It sure looks to me that it would have been just fine being unbacked. I'm still not sure why it was backed probably 30 years ago other than the owner then preferred it. Thanks for letting me know you like it, too! Okie

Excellent choice, okie. I'm sure he'll do an amazing job on the re-backing as well as any conservation and retouching you will have him do. thumbsup.gif

Wow Chris -- amazing haul! They are all nice, but I quite like these 2 in particular...
-
Yeah, love the colours of Strangers.
-
Wow!! October has been a great month so far. Love to see it.
My pair of recent pickups.
Love this movie and the lobby card has to be the best in the set (at least that i have seen. Very tough to find when not browning with age as so many Columbia lobbies from this period do.
And this insert was in great condition and a nice price so I scooped it up.

Awesome Chris. thumbsup.gif
How did you determine those "scarcity" numbers? (or is it based on previous sales/auction records you've found?)
-
There are no official previous sales/auction records of either that I am aware of...
However, there was apparently a Strangers listed on eBay at some point in the past and the only other White Heat I know of is literally a picture of a photocopy ;)
-
Thanks, Chris.
And congrats again on acquiring all of these daybills. cheers

Could just as easily go in the Bond section but as it is a well known and well travelled image...

Hi Matias! With your birthday coming up, are you going to share a poster present with us, too? My birthday is this month as well.
I'll also show the poster you helped me find. Okie
-
I just got a bunch of posters, so I might share a few Okie :)
Can't wait to see that one you got... ;)

A bunch! That sounds like a very nice October brewing - eye of newt and all - for you, Matias! A little All Hallows waiting tension is good! Okie

I received a few posters this week.
Polish Jaws 2 - I love the artwork on this one.
UK Jaws 2 Advance Quad - I'm a big fan of the imagery in the advanced posters
(https://i.imgur.com/WO0OIZt.jpg)
UK Jaws 2 Shark Facts - I really like the Shark Facts posters. I already own a linen backed version of this but I've been wanting a non-linen backed version.
Autralian Animal House One Sheet - This poster is super rare. It is in lesser condition but I couldn't resist. I attended college at the University of Oregon where this was filmed and I still live close by so I have several posters from this film. Someday I hope to find an affordable copy of the advanced poster.

In honor of Matias' birthday today, attached is the Argentinean The Creature From the Black Lagoon that Matias helped me find! I really like the image of the Creature on this poster: big and beautiful! I also like how the poster looks in the Cinema Wide version frame from Spotlight Displays. Thanks, Matias, and enjoy your 41st, if my math is right! Okie

Thanks Okie! 40 is the number. New decade...

No it is linen backed. Not thrilled with an attempt to do work on the upped horizontal fold that isn't really the same color as the green background. Need to see if something can be done about that. Love the colors and image of the poster though.
And I definitely agree with those who like the Mmle Fifi insert. Such a striking image. Much better than the other posters for the title.

It's as American as apple pie, Okie. It's part of a set. Silkscreened
