I bought this last month but only received it in the mail today. I already have the large French poster by Soubie for this title, but I have been waiting to get my hands on an unrestored Forbidden Planet OS for a long time, so this finally puts an end to that search.
-
Very, very nice.
I'm following in your footsteps, as I'm about to buy a French copy.
T
-
Good purchase Thierry, the French poster is great too (I always liked the background landscape in that one).
-
Not yet. It's 3rd in line amongst a bunch of posters a collector friend of mine has on hold for me. They will eventually all be mine, but the wife will only let me buy them one at a time. They are all beyond my allowance :D
T

Big congrats on the Forbidden Planet!
-
I sold my FP one sheet years ago, but I replaced it with an Argentinian to keep the world in balance
-
I've always wanted a Forbidden Planet. An original release is beyond my budget unfortunately. That one sheet looks amazing congrats!
My recent arrivals:
Night of the Hunter BFI Quad. Love this image!

I love that Forbidden Planet one sheet, a real classic. Nice haul, Ratzkywatzky! Especially Teenage Frankenstein.
I picked up these two posters for the recent Suspiria remake with art by Yuko Higuchi. They're B2 in size and I think they were perhaps sold/given when the film was first released in Japan (I don't think they were used theatrically):

Nice pair Tob. I like how Japan produces these kinds of posters. I think they sometimes get given away with the purchase of advance tickets.
I wish the free posters we get a Cinemas were printed to this size/quality rather than the mini prints we seem to get.

Grief, yes...!
Was thinking exactly the same.
Hi Ratzkywatzky, don't know if you noticed but on your b/w Goldfinger re-release set of FOH, the one showing Connery and Blackman kissing each other, the straw is going up the right hand side of the image. The whole image was rotated 90 degrees, for some odd and obscure reason...
Cracking haul though.
-
Great pickups, Ratzkywatzky! Quite the mix, I gotta say. thumbsup.gif
Are RODAN, GODZILLA & TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN all linen backed?
-
My turn, I guess.
Here's one that I've wanted for some time and was trying to find folded. I had bought it once linenbacked, 10 years ago, and let it go because it was not in upmost condition. When I realized that I would not get it folded, I bought it again linenbacked. Linenbacked posters are really last resort for me.
I put it up to see what it would look like and I must say, not bad for a 1946 poster.

Great pick up, Thierry! Always loved that format for Beauty and the Beast. I also have been looking for a folded copy, alas to no avail. I might have to resign myself to buy a linenbacked example as well.
-
Nice, great pick up!

Magnifique! That's some serious wall space covered.

great poster T

Yes, I tried, I really tried. I had a friend of mine in Paris looking for one. He is extremely connected. I eventually caved and bought the dreaded linenbacked. Maybe you’ll get lucky, but I gave up. I have a few other middle range pieces that I want to buy. I know where they are but they are all linenbacked and the seller is getting impatient. I may have to cave again soon.

Breathtaking, T. A work of art. Amazing find.
-
I'm dumbstruck at the posters I see here. The rarity of some is amazing. I'll humbly post a new acquisition for a Mario Bava film. I've never seen it before, I purchased it from the artist who painted it. I love the Thai posters for Bava films. Sorry for the crappy photo.

I go out of the country offline the first week of June and APF explodes with incredible posters! Your huge beautiful beast is wondrous to see on the wall, T!
Antoine, your Forbidden Planet is very nice, and in person the colors on this poster always amaze me!
Ratzkywatzky, I really like your Rodan!
Geez, I didn't mean to write so many posts, but you guys are rolling out a fantastic June!

Wow!!! Great haul. And all from King Bruce!!! Nice. I’m with you on planet of the apes. I’ve never been able to find one in my price range. One day....

Ive always loved the movie, so hope to come across a nice copy one day, too.
Congrats again, gargoyle.
cheers

Thanks Antoine, Undead, oldposterho, Richie, Tob, Redman, Matt, Simes & Dr. Bill for the kind words.
It's kind of nice to know that other people actually like what you like (it's never a certainty). I have stopped caring a long time ago about what people think of my gear, part of the reason why I don't post my new acquisitions on the forum (and also because I have a website), but it's actually fun to read your comments.
cheers
Now back to what I do best... potroll.gif

Ratzkywatzky, I never much got into the late '60s spy films, but after seeing your latest finds, I might have to change that. Those are some great images from the Bond films! I'll put them on my list of films to watch.
Tob, really nice artwork on the "Suspiria" remake. I love the original so much I didn't want to see the remake, but seeing these posters might make me change my mind!
Thierry, what a beautiful poster. Don't know how this film escaped me for so long. Also going on my to-watch list!
-
T,
That poster looks incredible on display.
Just awesome.
Marc.

Great posters all round. Now to lower the tone slightly with another from my Dumbo set...

Love that Planet of the Apes and the various Piranha posters...nice ones, gargoyle67.
Tob, really nice artwork on the "Suspiria" remake. I love the original so much I didn't want to see the remake, but seeing these posters might make me change my mind!
Thanks Stefano! It's not a patch on the original, but I tried to approach it as a new (unconnected) film and tried not to compare...and enjoyed it! It's made with care and has an interesting tone/atmosphere. I like a slow pace and it takes its time. Worth a watch if you just keep the original out of mind.
Now to lower the tone slightly with another from my Dumbo set...
You're being too humble, share the full set!

Really nice, skyjackers... the entire DUMBO series of posters and mylars all look to be uber impressive, too!!! ;)
-
Thanks guys. I’ll try and put them up in the Character posters section. Probably a more appropriate place.

Is the Eva a one-sheet? I gotta get one of those.
-
Is the Eva a one-sheet? I gotta get one of those.
Yes it is 1-Sheet size, double sided but printed on a vinyl material. Pretty hard (but not impossible) to track down. I had to put in an awful lot of effort to get my set. Individuals may be easier though.
-
I get it. The kind of effort I’d put for anything Spielberg related.

I could almost write a book on the efforts I went to get these. I would say I became slightly obsessed, which my wife would agree with.
This is why I stick with one topic for my collection. I can’t imagine how you cope with your multiple collections, especially as they all seem so complete. Hats off to you.
-

All kidding aside, with patience. Everything comes around at least once. I never really look for anything specific, because I would go nuts. Plus having multiple sub collections allows me to hop from one to the other and always find something interesting. No dry spell, sort of speak.

My favorite Star Wars poster. I was nine and had been infatuated with Star Wars. I'm pretty sure when I saw this poster in my local movie theater I cried with excitement. I remember this poster vividly. This is an upgrade for me.

Agree about the Empire Strikes Back teaser being the best poster of the best movie of the series. I have a OS hanging on my living room wall.

T
Wow, this is amazing. What country is this one from? I personally don’t mind the linen backing if well done, I think it protects the posters and you can display it without worry g about it getting further damaged. I have quite a few of my brittle Polish posters backed and they look great.
-
Very, very nice.
I'm following in your footsteps, as I'm about to buy a French copy.
T
That's very nice. Is it an original first issue?

Hi everyone.

THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY was released in 1980, so your 35th anniv. poster would be from 2015. :)

Thanks erik - I guess I could have worked that out if I'd have thought about it! :)
-
BLADE RUNNER and LONG GOOD FRIDAY are great! HOUSE OF WAX is from the 1980's; not sure of the exact date but I think it's from maybe 1984 - 1986. The tip off is the Warner Bros. logo on the bottom right corner which is from the same period. The quad is similar to the American reissue 1-sheet from the same year.
-
I scored this from a local theater today. I've been acquiring very few stuffs lately, but I get stoked when I'm fortunate to score something for a great movie like this. Surprisingly limited release for this one. There was only one theater with a few screenings, within several hundred miles from here. Great tagline.

Peter Lorre was born on this day in 1904. I met his modern day, more tan, doppelganger once in a gentleman from Aruba. Lorre's popular character of Mr. Moto didn't survive in pictures into WW II or after for some obvious reasons. Though, I really like this 1937 one sheet for Thank You Mr. Moto that I had the high bid on in Bruce's recent auction. Here's the picture from the auction as I'm paying and holding for shipment currently. Okie

Both Maureen O'Hara and horse racing, Richie! That's awesome! Maureen O'Hara was very popular in my Irish family. Also, yes it's true, my grandfather was a professional jockey. Good thing I had some tall genes on my mother's side, eh?! Okie
