Title: Ripped off by Posterfix.....
Post by: Ringwar on August 07, 2013, 10:04:33 AM
New to the forum, this is my first post. I was just scammed by Chris at posterfix. Had I done my research I would have saw his horrible reviews. That's what I get for thinking someone on TV is a professional. Sending my stuff to Dario for linen backing.

Maybe we should have a section JUST devoted to Posterfix - with streamers, fireworks, flashing neon lights and several of these:

Thankfully Dario and the other reputables exist to be found!

Sorry to hear you had this bad experience.

Just thinking out aloud, it would be good if people who had a bad experience with a company such as PosterPricks create a video of their experience and post it on YouTube alongside their videos for all to see. (Hint hint ;) )

So does anyone know how confrontational this guy is? I have a buddy from High School that lives in Brooklyn. I may have him go down to posterfix to get my poster. And does anyone know who this guy on ebay is? I may be reaching here but...It's suspiciously close to posterfix and is the same type FG insert poster I sent in.

Oh he's confrontational alright (which can lead to great fun I am sure!).

Search "Cloutier" here and enjoy:

By the way you haven't yet told us how exactly Posterdestroy ripped you off (although I am sure we can well imagine)?

Oh it's simple enough. Sent out my Flash Gordon Insert poster to have it linen mounted and minor fold touch up done. Paid $141 to have it done and shipped back. He told me 4-6 weeks. I paid via paypal. Didn't know paypal has a 45 day window to file a claim. He was very communicative up until the 45 day mark. Even told me he just had to cut it off the canvass and ship. Once the 45 day hit, he doesn't return my phone calls, doesn't respond to voicemails. Contacted paypal and they reluctantly refunded my $141 but I am still out the cost of the poster and the cost to ship it to Posterfix. $66.50. Yes I know it's not a huge amount of money and I learned a lesson, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up anytime soon.

Same thing happened to me. He promised a quick turn-around then went AWOL. Finally got poster back six months later with the worst linen-backing job of all time. I just threw it away.

Well I have a buddy that lives in Brooklyn and has agreed to make a stop by and attempt to pickup my poster.

So he's going to send it to you terrible spelling and all even though you got a refund?  Maybe he forgot about that part...

I have no idea. I have had SO many people online use the death in family bit for being lazy about fulfilling a transaction. I can tell you if I were running a business I would set my email to auto reply that I am out for a death in the family. That way my customers would know I'm not ignoring them. We shall see what condition it's in once it arrives. If it arrives. I'll post pictures.

I a good note, I sent out 2 posters to Dario today.

Well I now have a Fedex tracking number for my poster form Chris. Estimated delivery is Tuesday. He didn't say one negative word about the bad reviews I posted everywhere, or the BBB case I opened. So either he is oblivious to it all or doesn't care.

I'm sure he doesn't care, even after years of others having sharing their horror stories, he caught you, I'm sure he will continue to catch others unawares.

I have another one. 2 of those sales from ebay are me... Chris says he used water color markers and it can be removed. and he can do it... yeah like I would ever send anything to him again. Any suggestions on exactly how to remove his touch-up. Like I said before the mounting is nice. Or maybe see if Dario can fix it when when I send him another batch?

OK, here is what you do...

Go to walgreens/grocery get a gallon of distilled water (you could probably use regular water - your call), q-tips...   Stop at an art store and buy the most expensive black water color pencil they have.  With the q-tips/water gently wipe off the watercolor marker - not too wet as to soak into the crease just damp.  Start outside on the edges of the fold.  It's not the color itself, it's the sloppiness.  You may not even need the pencil if you can remove the excess from either side of the fold.  Then touch it up with the watercolor pencil if needed...  You just can't get it too wet or it will warp if it didn't already come that way.

Sounds like fun huh?

Just got my posters back from Dario. Super happy with the quality. US customs sucks on the way back but in no way his fault. Damn posters spent more time sitting in customs longer than it took Dario to mount.

US Customs?
Is this new?
If so, when did we Americans start paying US Customs for items coming from Canada?
I've never had to pay any customs charges from any country.
But then again, I haven't purchased anything this year....

You are thinking of import fees. Generally we don't pay import fees. But EVERYTHING you get shipped to you from another country goes through customs. And some times it takes them a long time to process. My main hobby is Arcade games and I buy lots of electronics components from China. Some times they get through customs quick. Some times not so quick.

Gotcha.
I misunderstood and thought you were billed a customs fee.
And yes, sometimes they can sit in limbo for an inordinate amount of time -- which sucks.
 cheers

As another example why to avoid Pfix.

It sure looks like Mssr Cloutier (or his wife, who normally slops on the touch-up paint), grabbed the closest, black Sharpie and went to town.  Doh.gif

I can still see the join, the sharpie didn't touch the crack! It got everything but the crack. That sucks!
