Yeah, those are fair points. There is a dealer I follow on social media who is a bit loose with the truth in terms of his sales patter regarding scarcity and value and it annoys me. It's almost a rite of passage to get burnt by overpaying for a poster or two in the early days of collecting (or maybe it's just me that did it!), but it would be a great shame if that experience turned new collectors away.

Yeah, I actually think that dealers like this are detrimental to the hobby.  Cool website, but they give potential buyers a wrong idea of value, of what is fair and what is not.  If I was just starting in this hobby and bought my first poster at Film Art, only to realize that I paid 10x what it is worth later, I'd be pretty pissed and would probably never want to collect again.  Now I'm stuck with something I cannot even dream of reselling for anything close to the purchase price.  I understand people need to make money, but even greed has its limits.

While we at eMoviePoster.com have had 3,574 consignors (far more than any other poster auction), there are lots of you reading this who have never consigned to us!

If you have ever considered consigning, please go to https://www.emovieposter.com/learnmore/?page=consign and read our "no fine print" simple explanation of how it works and exactly what we charge, which you WON'T find on any other major auctions' websites.

And also go to https://www.emovieposter.com/learnmore/?page=consign_major#absoluteproof for a clear explanation how we charge FAR lower fees than ANY other auction, at EVERY price level!

This explains WHY such a high percentage of collectors choose eMoviePoster.com over ANY other auction when it comes time to consign.

There are just THREE WEEKS AND THREE DAYS left in which to send consignments to our August Major Auction that starts 7/14!

We already have received a TON of excellent consignments for this August Major Auction, which will run from 7/14 to 8/4!

See just a few of them at https://www.emovieposter.com/learnmore/?page=consign_major#august2024 (and ALL of them are guaranteed to be in this special auction).

As always, we most want items that are rare AND desirable, and we most want ones that we either have NEVER auctioned before, or only auctioned once or twice!

You want to get your items sent NOW, because we always take the first example of each item we receive, so you can guarantee your items WILL be in the auction by sending them now (unless of course, we somehow already have it).

And if you send rare and desirable items now, you may well see them in future preview ads, which gets your items a lot of extra exposure, which may get you lots of extra money! Why not contact us today with what you have?

SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER ABOUT CONSIGNING TO OUR MAJOR AUCTIONS! While all linenbacked or paperbacked posters (except those in lesser condition, unless they are EXTREMELY desirable otherwise) are fine for the major auctions, NON-backed items need to be TRULY rare and desirable items that realistically sell for $300 each or more, or they make more sense for our "regular" auctions.

All of you surely have seen that our regular auctions now contain MORE AND MORE "better" items (and of course FEWER AND FEWER "lesser" items) so please don't feel you are shortchanging your items by consigning them to our regular auctions instead of the major ones!

Look at our great recently added Tuesday auctions at https://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/13.html for absolute proof of how many high quality items are included, ones that not too long ago would have been included in the Major Auctions!

I have seen time and time again that these deadlines have a way of slipping by for many consignors, and every major auction we get some anguished last minute emails from people asking for "more time" to send.

But that creates MAJOR headaches for us, so we will have to stick firmly to our deadline, so why not start assembling your consignments NOW, so this can't happen to you?

So if YOU have items to consign to our August Major Auction, please contact us today with what you have, and you may see some of your items in one of our future preview ads!

And of course it is also fine to send consignments to our regular "every four week" auctions at ANY time, and now, thanks to our being more exclusive in what we accept, we can almost always get your items into the very next set of auctions!

I check the site when new arrivals go up as I like the owner's taste in posters, but yeah, I only window shop because of the dealer prices. Fair play if they can sell at those prices! I suppose if you have regular customers that trust you, shopping at emovieposter and then re-selling for a nice profit seems like a no brainer.

Has anyone ever bought from these people?

I mean, their pricing is x10 what it should be.  I know thieves when I see them, but this shop is definitely above the fray.  One example but I feel like every single posters of theirs could be an example, I bought this Blow Up poster a few weeks ago for $700, which I believe was already a stretch but it was folded so I had to go for it), and they are selling the exact same poster (linenbacked though... Yeah!!!) for $8k ( laugh1).

I mean really????

Movie Posters - Latest Acquisitions / Re: May 2024

Is Salem's Lot the most expensive title or is it because the condition is so good?

You have a great collection of King posters there. A complete King collection would be a challenge because of his made for TV films and Video only releases, but I guess this would only add to the fun in tracking them all down.

It all depends.  You have people collecting signed books.  I have a few of those, but only if a page has been added specifically for the signature.  Otherwise, I don't believe in them and I think they're all fake, much like posters.  Those tend to sell for a lot more... $20k, $30k.  Then you have small editions of some books, 100, 200, different DJ, those sell for a lot too.  I only collect unsigned first edition, and in that group, yes, Salem's Lot is the most expensive.

Yes, I'm far behind on King, but like I said, he has never been a major collecting niche of mine.  But now I'm thinking maybe it should be hahaha

Ha, funny you should say that...  I have been collecting his books diligently, I have 62 out of 76, all first edition, first print, mint DJ, spine and book, which makes it much harder to find than movie posters.  Still missing Salem's Lot but I'm on the fence about spending $10k on a mint copy.  Then I decided a few months ago to put all his posters together.  Still missing a lot there too, I don't have the one above (really nice btw), but this thread reminds me I should get back at it.

King collection
