Post by: Juli on February 23, 2012, 12:58:34 PM
I store my movie posters in...

A. A climate-controlled area with air conditioning and heating
B. A partly climate-controlled area with air conditioning only
C. A partly climate-controlled area with heating only
D. A non-climate controlled area (no air conditioning or heating)
E. In a variety of a climate-controlled area and non-climate controlled area (I store posters in several different places)

I am very curious to hear your responses to this poll. If you want to elaborate feel free to use this thread.

Thanks.

I do think we put far too much importance on this. I have some posters from the 20's and 30's that, (before I got them) have just been lying around,or stuffed in drawers, with no concern for preservation; And these are in pretty good shape after going through the blitz, and such like.

Now we Poster collectors want to keep them in as good a condition as when we got them....!  Fair enough, but lets just be sensible. I keep my posters in a room with the curtains shut, unless I'm in there. The central heating is never on in that room, and the door keep shut. So even in the summer, it doesn't get too hot in there.... And that's about it. Why would you want to do anymore...

None of the above... just a plan chest, several mylar sleeves and a good bit of British air!

My poster lair in a spare bedroom of my house; with central AC?  Does that mean climate controlled?  I was think about hooking up my rarely used dehumidifier...

Yes, central AC would mean you have it cooled during the summer, thus the climate is being controlled so that the room does not get warm/hot.

I`ll take a guess that the 1% who stores posters in a variety of places is R**h...his warehouses are vast and many...or A*i, where the top of the cupboard suites just fine... ;)

I don't have many, but the few I have are in my bedroom, which is climate controlled.

I store them in the basement. Me and the kids have an agreement if they don't mess with my posters they can have the rest of the basement. But upon further inspection it would be in my best interest to move my flat file out from under my water shut off.

I wouldn't keep in basements; don't they flood first?

Charlie.. why didn't you buy those flat files?

I just haven't been able to give into my pride and for the most part my wife...  :o  She was the one who insisted that I not buy them (based on the situation) and that I would be a "two-faced sucker" if I went back and asked for them again.

No flooding problem, it's a daylight basement that has proper drainage on top of a hill.

Charlie- looking good, overall. A work in progress.

What is the one rolled poster in the corner with pieces of 2" brown, paper tape on the back (of it or linen)?

And is the rolled one next to it, with the bit of green showing, a backed, AMADEUS (Ital) 2F?   ;)

Seriously, that is impressive.  If that guy's entire home looks like that and someday he or she is featured on an episode of Hoarders, hopefully the producers make it an extended episode that is about 30 hours long!   8)
