I tripped across these...kind of interesting...
HA sold a pair of photobustas for GWTW, in 2010. They are described as being from 1948. What is interesting is that 1948 also appears on the lower right corner of each piece. But imdb suggests that GWTW didnt first play in Italy until 1951.

However, when I was looking closely at these, something immediately popped off the page that says these are most likely from the early 1970s. And that was the MGM logo (leo the lion) used on both. This logo was created and used by MGM starting in the 1960s thru 1982, for their film posters. The distributor, CIC, was started in the early 1970s by Paramount and Universal.
In 1973, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer closed down its distribution offices and became a partner in CIC, which took over international distribution for MGM's films.
So is the 1948 more likely a code or cataloging number of some kind?
