They work well -  i use them.

It's better then using a a 5lb weight that one so called dealer uses that I have seen.

what we do at MoviePosterBid:

we have a sheet of wood panel that I have attached a piece of sheet metal to 30x40 inches
when shooting rolled posters, we place this down on the photography table and use magnets

alternately, we also have a heavy nut/bolt combo. I glued a plastic tab to the head of the bolt and we use those when only a few posters from a stack are curled and we aren't using the metal sheet. the plastic of course prevents the steel bolt from scratching the poster surface

I bought a package of heavy duty nuts and bolts at Home Depot and I use the nuts to hold down the corners of the posters. I put them on a piece of black foam core when I photograph them.

yeah, if you lack some dumbells, then you can order some of those crystal paperweights folks around here like to favor.  I have found that some glass whiskey tumblers work pretty well.

A lot of people ask us how we get such good images of our posters, which show you every tiny pinhole and defect, and yet DON'T enhance the image, or give you that "looking through gauze" feeling you get from images found on some big city auction websites, no matter how much you zoom and pan (even the foldlines usually disappear).

We could tell you exactly how we do it, but then we would have to kill you, and since a picture is worth a thousand words, we thought we could show you how we do it at http://www.emovieposter.com/unused/samplephotosetup.htm

Seriously, if any of you want details on how to build a 7 foot square metal wall, buy magnets, get good cameras and lights, the special gloves for proper handling, etc, and are ready to spend the couple of thousand dollars needed for materials, give me a call.

Why don't I just send all my posters to you and you can photograph them all and then send em back to me?  You know, because I'm such a valued customer and all.  happy1

Better yet, just buy everything from us, and then (on request) we can give you our unwatermarked images of what you bought, so you can post them on your website ASAP.

I've been doing it for a long time.  You don't even have to ask.  Just get on Lee's mailing list and you'll get your pictures the day after the sale.

Also, Bruce can now identify the caller from their phone number, so you don't need to spell it out (which is extremely annoying when your name is Thierry).  Nice going, Bruce.
