An exclusive interview with Renato Casaro
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:24:05 PM »
Hi all,

After many months of preparation I've just published the latest Film on Paper interview which is with one of my favourite artists, Italian-born Renato Casaro. He was responsible for thousands of posters over a 40 year period and his art was used around the globe to market a huge range of films from tiny Italian independents to massive Hollywood blockbusters. I was lucky enough to visit Renato at his house in Marbella, Spain last year where I spent an afternoon interviewing him and was granted a look inside his incredible archive of film poster sketches, art and posters. The article features many exclusive images of his work.

Wow....that is one enjoyable article, thanks. I love how critical he was of the job he did on The Magnificent Seven (horses) yet none of us would care or even notice...

Awesome article, thanks so much.

BTW - if anyone knows where I can lay my hand on that Dances with Wolves poster (the paint to the face one) my wife would love it!

I am just jealous you got to meet the guy... Did you get him to sign anything for you or pick up some artwork?  Great article!

Hey, I have thought of a real challenge for you Ed.  Find out who the Belgian Wik artist is and do a segment.  It would solve a long time mystery... Serious.

What a great read. Thanks a lot Ed, that was excellent. He's a great artist...I admire the great ones who are also so prolific. Which of his posters is your favourite out of interest?

Ed, that's a really good article.
does anyone have a checklist of Casaro's works?

that's the one thing I wish all articles would post - checklists!
