^ I like how Dario removed the snipe. I would be curious to know how he did it ;) as I tried with what I believe an equivalent product to bestine with out success also on a daybill with same snipe. thumbup

The second image is the result after I had tried to remove the snipe (using "un-du" from Bunnings) - what was left was just too hard to lift (even tho I soaked it in "un-du") so I gave up and sent it to Dario...much better than I could achieve obviously. Un-DU works well on old tape, snipes like this a different story it seems.

Ok, thanks, yeah I was using Un-du but I couldn't seem to lift anything so you did well.

I was going to say, I've only ever used water and never had a problem, but I don't do often as I prefer snipes on myself USUALLY.

Lo and behold guys!

WATER! lots and for long time.

Rule is, most paper snipes/paper tape use water. Very rarely do you need to add chemicals.

CAUTION: You need to soak well and for long time. So the paper is very fragile to handle. You could very easy tear or mush the paper. Naturally you don't have to soak more than just the part were the snipe is attached.

Chemicals are for all types of plastic tape or Filmoplast that appears to be paper but have a gummy archival membrane.

All the best,
dario.

The commentary courtesy of Dario Casadei so I could post on my Facebook page for my followers and friends, and also so I could give Dario a free plug.

Cool Facebook page, Dave... Sorry I had missed this before.

Awesome work as always Dario.

And thanks for the info on the snipes chaps - I too have some that need to be removed off daybills (can you believe it?!) and had planned on using Bestine or Un-Du.  Nice to have you play guinea pig though (which really means more work for Dario in the future ;) )

And another...

FYI - I write the comments and show the stages like this so I can post to my Facebook page, plus it gives me a chance to promote Dario and his business to all my page's followers which I don't mind doing (and yes I pay for all my restorations)

Last one by Dario, he can go and have a rest now.

The Princess on Broadway (1927)

It had been backed onto Kraft paper. Here is Dario's set of images of the removal of it before he got to the final restoration stage:

Fast forward to...
