I love both to be honest, but as for the poster itself not so much the U.S. one sheet and the three sheeter because Audrey's skin tones appear checkered. The half sheet is great and all other countries versions are top notch too.

The one sheet blows 'em away:

The seller's pics showed the stamp on the back, so not really much doubt about authenticity, although the pics alone do not prove ownership or possession, of course.....

I'm talking up close Mel. Good from afar but far from good in regards to Audrey's skin tone.

german posters were often ahead in the game in terms of print quality in this era IMO

I've seen this too.  But it is that Givenchy dress that makes the poster the best... Unless the Aussie OS or Argentinian is less dot-matrix-y...

Ohhh...the dress....hmmmm....dribble...the dress IS the best part of the poster. The Aussie OS...no dot-matrixy. Not sure about the Argentinian.

Smooth skinned on both the Aussie and the Argie; both have almost a stone litho quality about them, re: her skin tones. A close call here but, IMO, these 2 are neck in neck clap:

AUS:

Argentina:

That's correct Jeff. Up to the late 60s most posters made down here were lithograpic (not stone-litho). Then came those dot-matrix-y offset bastards.

Hey Matias,

I figured it wasnt stone lithography by the 1960s but i am certainly impressed by the process used that created the subtlety in skin tones and the beautiful gradation of color on the Argentine OS.  happy1

The 1SH for me, her shape, the little bit of leg, lovely shoulders, the dress is sexy and the slight hint of the underwear showing through (which on repros is never quite as good).

And best of all, approved by my wife for display on the wall in this house!

I haven't seen the US version in person but I suspect you have to look pretty close to see the dot pattern. Same thing with six sheets, the dot pattern looks bad up close but fine from a few feet back.

The face on the Australian is less attractive IMO:

The "Egbert buying it himself in a fit of rage" seems even more likely now after seeing this card in Bruce's Halloween auction.
Otherwise the purchaser is setting himself up for a world of hurt.

After sitting for years unsold, the new buyer would have to realize at least $12,188 on the quick flip just to break even

After selling this past Tuesday for only $5000.00, this had to be a MAJOR sting, considering Egbert sold it only fairly recently, on ebay, for $9750.00.  OUCH!

Darn missed another one...  Wonder what his max bid was?  It really sucks to be a collector - probably bought by a dealer to fix and flip...

Impossible to know for sure.

A 50/50 toss up, as it could have been bought by a fellow collector to repair, conserve and keep.

It will look amazing, once it has been washed and treated to remove the yellowing and excess dirt (and then repaired).

It is still a Beautiful poster, even in that condition.   thumbup

I didn't think these got this high anymore...

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2756410

I have stopped a long time ago trying to figure out what should go high and what shouldn't.  Most of it doesn't make sense to me anymore.

Personally I think the Superman title is currently under valued and a good title to pick up. For a 35 year old film 100.00 doesnt seem at all out of line, granted it can be had cheaper, but not a staggering overpay.
