As many know these are impossibly rare and I (foolishly) thought I had enough on it to win this but alas not to be, one person wanted it more it seems. Looks like it's going to be a long time between drinks for me and the next one. Congrats to the new owner:

I'm not so sure that poster equals "unrestored" as it is clearly taped together, which is in itself a form of restoration

as it stands, it can be displayed, but most people will get it restored to prevent the tape from eating at the paper.

Where is the tape? On the back? The dude doesnt mention tape and I dont see it.

How can you tell? Is there a tell tale sign?

How can you tell? Is there a tell tale sign?

the first key is that you can't see any overlapping sheets and the image is perfectly aligned.
then if you look along the center vertically, you can actually see the deformation of what is probably 2" wide tape. It goes through the second M in MGM at top through to Nicholas at the bottom. I can't really tell where the horizontal match is and seeing as I have never had this poster I don't know if it's in 2 or 4 sections or even 6 as some are and I also don't know where the horizontal join is

look closely Zorba... just above the credit Robby the Robot at left approx 16 inches from teh bottom.. it stands out as a 1" or so thick white strip where the posters overlap. you can follow it all the way across

Alex, if you zoom in close, on the back of the poster, you can see where the credits panel, at the bottom of the poster overlaps a bit and was attached. Looks like it may have been pasted. I also found that HA sold a 6sh, and in their description, it mentions the credits panel as showing some browning from tape, where it was attached to the rest of the poster.  ;)

How many pieces do six sheets usually come in?

This guy did a great job for sure.

Either way. Anyone who gets that sucker is getting one kick ass piece. I wish I had that kind of cash.  8)

as few as two, as many as six. when six, it is generally 2 very large main pieces and strips for the top or bottom. I've never seen a one piece.

There is also a Star Wars 7 sheet and a 1958 Snow White 7 sheet which I had. There are sure to be others

Alex,

Here are detail grabs from the copy that HA sold, which shows where the credits panel was attached (tape stains) and various panel registrations, that, when assembled, were very slightly off:

They might be some hefty duties on that sucker if being imported to US!

Still if I was dropping $15,000 on such a thing I'd probably just travel to Germany and pick it up...

What a sweet trip that would be.

Wish I had the means for the paper and the travel.
