The only possible way I'd spend any money on that is if I was going to get it linenbacked, and I hate linen.  Ergo, I think it's worthless.

didnt see it, but i would not pay 750 for it in that condition.
Best regards,

Charlie to the guy who lost to EatBrie:  You just got "T-boned"!  Happens to the best of us...  Wait until you get "Holidazed"!

Thierry to Silhouette:  Please tell her it's a tiny part of my collection so she doesn't think I'm a total creep.  Oh wait, no, I am a total creep.

Regarding the Apocalypse Now B0 hammer price, this infamous line comes to mind: "These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale."  As much of a marketing tactic it is, I think it rings true for some items.

2 times in 18 months is still pretty darn rare.  It may not be an extreme unicorn, but I think the potential is there for "a long time can go by..."

This beautiful, first release US OS for the 1943 RKO film, I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, went to the high bidder, on Oct 1, who got it for $3827.00.

I did a quick search and the last copy sold by HA, in November 2009, sold for $9560.00 (inc the BP) and Bruce's last recorded sale was in July 2004, for $3501.00.

A fantastic image, for a poster that doesn't seem to show up that frequently.   thumbup

And a great film, I must always be content with my reissue insert, which I kinda like better art wise.

Patience paid, off, it seems. THE INVISIBLE MAN WC, offered for years by Eggbert, finally sold in early August. It was interesting to see this card listed month after month, over the last several years with various prices attached to it.

It had been restored (missing upper left corner, stains, holes) and backed.

It sold (a BIN) for $9750.00

I can only think that it's a new person who loves Star Trek and who has no idea that Heritage is NOT the only source for movie posters.

It took me awhile to realize that what I thought was rare because I did not see it often was not necessarily rare given the many other sources that I was not aware of.

But, in the end, that's just plain ole FUCKING STUPID to spend that money for that poster.  What a retard.  Imagine when he learns in a year or so just how fucked he was.
Best regards,

Holiday

Two extremely rare Wizard of Oz one sheets (both Style C and Style D) sold today for high prices, along with some Tarzan posters. (All prices below do not include 10% buyers premium). From the estate of MGM animal trainer and performer Volney Phifer:

Pressbook images:

Style D (the superior one IMHO):

Style C:

I'd kill for that "Tarzan and His Mate" one sheet.  That auction obviously wasn't too far under the radar but I sure didn't notice it.
