So I just bought my first poster on eBay from an random and unknown seller. All my prior posters came from EMP or one of Dave's eBay auctions.

www.ebay.com/itm/160809285492

I think I got a pretty good deal, since the same poster (in lesser condition I believe) sold two days ago on EMP for over four times the price:
http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/9366875.html
And the only other example I could find was on HA from a while back that went for about double the price.

We're having a kid in a few months, and plan on going for a Pooh look, so I think this will go nicely in her room.

It looks genuine, but the colors seem a tad bit off in the listing picture, compared to the other two examples, but that could just be due to the camera/lighting. This is also my first 1/2sheet. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how I can verify that it's an authentic poster? It seems such an uncommon one to fake, so I'm hoping it's good.

How about eMoviePaper.com?

Nup you'll sell or sorts of stuff like glass slides and maybe more advertising posters (eg circus). I think you need something not limiting to posters, something like BrucesWares

I have to ask if this is the sort of price area both Bruce and/or seller expected? I have no idea.

I wonder if anyone has even sold something like that collection before?

Well, so much for his $15,000 expectations. I had bid on it and got sniped at the last second, but it wasn't anywhere near what the guy actually wanted. I wasn't expecting it to sell. Apparently none of the other owners of similar posters thought so either.

That's the problem with collectibles, especially rare ones. People can talk about how much something is "worth" and what they would or wouldn't sell their particular item for (if they actually have one themselves), but in the end, it comes down to how much other people are willing to pay. Oh well, I would have liked to have had this poster.

I dont see it a s a problem but as the reality.

They can tell me all day long that something is worth $1,000 but if they cant find anyone to pay over $50 for it than it is not worth more than that $50. The rest is all bullshit.

Well, I would say it's more of a problem with some of the collectors versus the collectibles themselves. But your point is very accurate.

I sent the seller an IM offering an amount substantially above the highest bid, but he politely refrained from accepting it. I wish him the best of luck trying to get his asking price in the future - but it certainly won't be from me.

There's two mentalities; as buyer and as seller. At the moment you are in buyer mode. When the time comes to sell that nice Revenge poster you have, then a switch will flick in your head.

On the collection of bound volumes, who can really say "value"? But they should have gone to a place like the Motion Picture Academy (and maybe they did!).

On the triple-bill, whenever someone tells me "I was told X was worth $10,000" I always say, "Did they have a checkbook out?". And they always say "No".

It is like guys here speculating on the teaser Bride of Frankenstein going for a million dollars. What they think means nothing. What matters is what guys with a million dollars think.

With that being said, this poster has been handled in the worst possible way so far. Next step will likely be an appearance in an auction catalog with something like a $10,000 reserve. And maybe he will get lucky. You never know.

Couldn't agree more.

It's like knowing how many watchers there are on an auction. If 'watchers' were bidders then it might matter.
