Anything?

Of course not...

It's another excellent poster for a terrrible film - easily the worst of the major 'monster' films...

jawdrop   Some people have NO taste...

Sorry... only just found this thread. I'm so poor, I can't even afford to pay attention. Nope not me I'm afraid. I actually wanted to bid on the Clockwork Orange quad. That's how poles apart I am from that poster.

I wouldn't say pole's apart, I have a Clockwork Orange Quad, and would have loved that To catch a Thief....

Which one is worse?  Seriously, I watched this again not long ago and was shocked at just how bad it was...  I'd much rather watch Dracula, Frankenstein (with and without the Bride), The Mummy, etc...

I think it's a British thing, as the humour is very British. A lot of the U.S. fellows on CHFB don't rate it. Whale was British, and loved to work with a British cast so makes perfect sense.

It's a fantastic film, of Uncle Carls era and Universal Pictures don't get much better than that. I'm sad for you, that you cannot appreciate it for what it is....

I've tended to be much more in tune with British sensibilities than your average American (I'm pretty sure that I was the only kid in my grade school whose favorite show was The Avengers), but I suppose something could be lost in translation.  Phil on NSFGE (Aussie) wasn't as down on it as I, but still didn't think much of it if I recall.  I've never had a problem with other sources of British humor (Ealing, particularly Ladykillers and Kind Hearts, Python, plenty of Brit TV over the past 30 years-Benny Hill notwithstanding, all the way up to modern day, where many of my favorite directors are plying their trade - Leigh, Winterbottom, Wright, Vaughn...).  In fact, the only instance that I know of where I've yet to 'get it' is Withnail & I.   I fell asleep minutes into the film, twice... I would give it another go, though...

But which other major 'monster' movie is worse in your opinion?...

I dont think its a matter of good or bad taste but a matter of personal taste. Each his own.

I think The Invisible man is an excellent film. Claude Rains is GREAT in it.

That French poster is fantastic.

I maybe should have rephrased British as Northern British, Una O'Conner, whom I believe gets on a lot of Americans nerves, and is the main reason of them not liking the film as much. She is a typical Northern Wifey, being brought up in the North of England I can see that character in a lot of women of a certain generation (more so when I was young).  Personally I think She's great, and the old, "what's the worst thing in Bride of Frankenstein"...Una o'Conner, argument.  I think she only adds to make the film the classic it is...

I think where the Invisible Man gets a bad wrap, is he's not a Monster, in the classic sense like Frankenstein's Monster, The Mummy, Creature, etc these films get banded together as a genre, yet they touch on many. The effects were the thing that got me as a kid, like Kong, Fulton's effects were ground breaking, and audience's at the time must have been astounded. Sound was new, never mind a man being invisible on the screen... ;)

Which other Monster movie is worse, from that period.... I would have to say None, I love them all, with all there faults. House of Dracula is always slated as poor, and Yes those films were running out of steam by then, but I still enjoy it every time I watch it. Unfortunately I'm a fan of all Universals Horror, Monster, Sci-fi, thriller, etc films.... I can think of plenty of new films that come NO where near as entertaining as The Invisible Man.... Do try to enjoy these for what they are, Great pieces of Entertainment.

"I think where the Invisible Man gets a bad wrap"

That's a really clever pun, IF it was intentional!
