So who was the joker who paid $252 for a Hannah and her Sisters daybill on emovieposter.com today?
I was quite happy with the $2 I paid for it.

Which explains why NOW is a wonderful time to put together a batch of unwanted daybills and send them off to us for our next auction! What is so great is that they don't weigh very much, so a package of 100 or more doesn't cost much in shipping. And then it could be YOU getting those results next time!

Bruce

P.S. Of course we would also gladly accept one-sheeters or other sizes as well!

I think that both Hannah and her sisters got in an unintentional bidding war and jacked that thing straight up.

No change on my $2, but I think I would break my `only sell if have spare copy' rule and let mine go for $250 to Bruce's losing bidder.

I'm kind of curious about this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160726736920?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It's a NM recalled Dark Knight DS poster with the Joker. I've seen these things normally go for between $120-$200+ in worse condition, but this one ended with only two bids for $50.99. The seller has an outstanding feedback rating. I looked at the poster and, based on the authentication guide I found for this type of poster, it seems 100% genuine. I was planning on bidding on it, but got stuck in a meeting and was literally one minute late. But I was wondering why it went for, comparatively, so little.

Yes, the seller is 100% legit.

Honestly, there are so many of these posters, I don't even know why they sell above $10.  Email the seller to find out if he has more of them.

I thought they were recalled/destroyed shortly after they begun being distributed due to the death of Heath Ledger or something like that?

I believe they were just discontinued and replaced with the next poster.

Discontinued, recalled, replaced... in this day and age, once it's out, it's viral.  I don't know how many of these they printed, but I'm guessing at least 10,000.  Even if there are only 5,000 left, it's still 5,000.  I must have 5 or 6 of those somewhere.  I'm sure some people are sitting on tubes of 25 waiting for the next Batman to come along (Rich??)  The deal is to not let them out at the same time.  Bottom line is, it was a major release for a major studio, and the posters are out there.

So I guess you could say that, in some ways, the movie poster market, at least in regards to some of the newer movies and posters, is similar to the diamond market. Where most of the items in existence are tightly controlled to keep a very limited supply available for purchase to create a fictitious limited availability to drive the prices up. As demand goes up, the number of pieces released goes up to meet the new demand. But the "actual rarity" versus perceived rarity is very different.

I do believe that, yes.  This is why so-called "rare" posters keep popping up every so often.  There are rare modern posters (Donnie Darko comes to mind) but the movies were usually not studio movies, acquired a fan base over time, and the posters were printed in much smaller quantities.
