It's all your fault, Holiday.  Before I knew you, I had 5 or 6 Japanese posters.  Now I have almost 600.  Thanks a lot!

Mmmm, you really should thank me, because those are the best posters in your collection!
Best regards,

Holiday

Rare Godzilla Style B half sheet goes cheap for $797 - no sniping at the end, surprisingly - it's not dry-mounted and appeared to be in decent condition:

Looks pretty dirty and there is a large tear Godrilla's foot but would probably restore really well.

I'm too lazy to look it up... How rare is it and what does it usually auction for at places like HA?

I though you would have done some research before you bought it Matt?  ;)

You've piqued my interest...

But after a quick look, the 'B' style doesn't seem that much more rare.  And the eBay price doesn't seem all that far off what HA sold one for in similar condition: http://movieposters.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7019&lotNo=85500#Photo

If I were investing in this poster for profit I wouldn't have bid that high.  After HA fees, multiple shipping costs, and potentially restoration costs -- I don't think anyone could bank on a profit at that sale price.

Agreed - but maybe a refreshing example of someone buying simply for their own collection?  Yeah I know - a long shot!

Since when is that poster rare?
And I agree with CSM, large tear (which will seal easily enough), but the main problem is the long dust shadow going the length of the left side. Will have to airbrush all of the borders if you want that fixed.

Say what you will Mel, but if a buyer doesn't factor in things like fees, shipping and restoration into their purchase price... welll... then they deserve what they get.

Im sure it works for Heritage and my business is less than nothing to them but their BP has kept me away from even bidding on quite a few posters.

How "unrare" is this one Sean? Is it fairly common, in the bigger picture of Godzilla material?

$391 gets you a vintage photo of 'erotic' Garbo. Oh, it ships free, so that is helpful.

I was tracking this one.  It commanded a decent price...

Great design, mediocre if not bad execution at best.

Popped into Bruce's place today...had my eye on almost 60 pieces (no not all Daybills), ended up with 15 - paid over the odds on a couple but my wife likes them so it doesn't count.  :-\ But feel I picked up a bargain or two as well.

The exchange rate is running at $1.07 so I win again, it's late afternoon on Friday so it's time for a glass or two of wine (the bonus); I bought my wife a dozen roses for the hell of it so I will be in the good books for a few days and amazingly the weather looks like it will be OK for a cycle ride on Sunday...

Hope your day was just as good. ;)

While there were a bunch of cheap deals, there were some wacky high results, like the one posted above.

Overall, daybills are on fire!

I saw some amazing prices for Daybills, three that I remember were that I thought "wtf" (to coin a well worn phrase):

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2465991
http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2466117
http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2465980

That said, in the interest of fair reporting as it is far too easy to take the piss out of people sometimes, I thought whoever got this got it at a good price:
