it would be so nice if you would post links to the auction Mel.
Just so we could examine the listing, bidding etc

This Ratatouille poster (26"x38") created for the crew sold for $900 on Ebay yesterday:

Could that be in contention for most expensive poster of the naughties? $900 is a crazy amount for that poster, but I have to admit that it is pretty cool.  Then again, you could probably buy an original early 20th century French advertising poster that it is modeled after for the same sum!

I can do that but past Ebay listings disappear quickly, which creates "dead" links on these forums.  You can always look up the sale by item number.  Anyway, here's the listing.

Hmmm... a zero feedbacker fighting it out with a two feedbacker. Sounds like eBay all right.

Look for this poster to return to the block with a sad tale of non-paying bidder blues.

look at the bid histories of the seller's items

http://cgi.ebay.com/Monsters-Inc-Retro-Luncbox-Pete-Docter-SIGNED_W0QQitemZ270525989273QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efc9b0199

http://cgi.ebay.com/Toy-Story-1995-Siggraph-T-Shirt_W0QQitemZ270525993257QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efc9b1129

but there's more folks.. the seller is a ZERO FEEDBACK SELLER AND YET ALL OF HIS ITEMS HAVE LOTS OF BIDS AND HIGH PRICES WITH BIDDERS THAT FOR THE MOST PART HAVE 100% BIDDING ACTIVITY WITH THIS SELLER

seller should be reported to fleaBay

You guys are way off the mark.  The poster sale is one of dozens of Pixar-related auctions by Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich and others for the Clinton Haiti Charity.  They're getting high prices because they're for charity.

Here's the article on SlashFilm.com and here's the snapshot of the other sales - in addition to the several dozen completed sales:

It may be for charity... but seeing so many <5 feedback bidders (or worse, 0 feedback) in all the sellers auctions is definitely suspect.

And just because it is a charity auction doesn't mean bad buyers pay! They really have no conscience at all. If eBay would require good ID to register, this wouldn't be an issue, but of course then the world would see that eBay has around a tenth the users it claims to, and the stock would plummet overnight (instead of slowly circling the drain).

So you don't think that this is actually the director of Toy Story 3 auctioning the stuff off? It looked pretty legit to me.

You are missing my point Juli. I think the SELLER is fine, just that the BIDDERS are some punks just messing around. They can do this with no punishment whatsoever.

I had no idea who the seller is (I didn't read teh listing) and if he is indeed the Director, that is a plus for the sell side. However the bid histories are classic shill reflection. The chances that the bidders are 100% real is very low.

Just another day on APF aka the "All Paranoia Forum."

Rich said "the seller should be reported to fleaBay."  A five second Google search revealed that this was a legit, well-publicized auction by the director of Toy Story.  So what should he be reported for?  For raising thousands of dollars for charity?

Bruce and Rich, do you have the slightest smidgen of proof the bidders are not paying?  Is it remotely reasonable to contend that a bidder would bid and NOT pony up for charity?  Wouldn't you expect Ebay newbies to bid on this type of auction?  Don't you think it's likely that Clinton called up some of his Hollywood buddies and asked them to do these types of auctions and that they promoted them to their pals who normally don't use Ebay?

I am being smeared for something I DIDN'T say! It was Rich who said the seller was bad, not me. Get your pitchforks and torches and gather at Rich's house, not mine.

Cinemasterpieces sold a very nice Star Wars sold very cheap ($300) last night:

Heritage sold a rolled Pirates of the Caribbean for way more than I expected. Is this unusually rare? (Emovie sold a folded one for $24 last year)

Also sold a Frankenstein re-release lobby card for big bucks:

I'm with Richard on this, Mel, I would also appreciate a link to the auction items you do screen grabs for. It doesn't take up much space adding the link and you were already on the page. It saves people having to search for these for further information. Most people would like to look at it now, not in 2 months when the link may go dead. Do you know how to put a link in here? It would be very helpful, thanks.

Pirates is what you call a modern classic. You will be able to find it cheaper, but the bottom is never going to fall out on that poster.

?????????
anyone know for sure

From LAMP:

The first printing has across the bottom border "one sheet - style 'A'" and then the NSS number as "77/21-0".

The second printing has across the bottom border "one sheet - style 'A'" with the NSS number as "77/21".

The third printing has across the bottom border "one sheet - style 'A'" with the NSS number as "77/21" and "Star Wars" written under it.

The fourth printing doesn't have the tag but just the NSS number "77/21" and "Star Wars" written under it.  (The "funky text" version)
