Check out Lot 72 from this auction last fall... http://www.auctionsappraisers.com/asp/searchresults.asp?sale_no=440&st=D

Lets's see... $130K Christie's sale price - about 35% in fees/BP - $12K purchase price from the Winter auction = ~$70K.  I'm pretty sure someone just made some serious bank!

there are some other pretty high prices in that auction, £17k for a vertigo one sheet, in not great condition, £1250 for Never Say Never Again!

How do i get on that gravy grain?

Poster concept art is very rare (I believe even rarer than original comic artwork).

Agreed Rich, that is just crazy. Unless you are a billionaire. Nah, even then.

So rare that it was sold twice in the last 8 months?  Or maybe there were 2!  The dimensions between the Winter auction and the Christies auction seem a bit off....

Doesn't make sense to me that there would be two original concepts of the exact same style.  Also, I think the same piece selling twice within a short time does not decrease it's rarity (as there is still likely only one piece).  The consignor made a good flip - IF the sale goes through that is.

To be clear I wouldn't pay $5 for it.  Just want to stress that original poster art is nearly non-existent!

Thanks Holiday. I've been an underbidder 2 or 3 times previously in auctions for the Jaws LCS so I was happy I won that one at last...and the Thunderball cards seem to be in exceptional condition.

The obscure "Black Frankenstein" just for $686 on Ebay (it quadrupled in price in the last minute).  It sold for $3107 last week at Heritage, sans the extra fold:

Now here is a big WTF lol. There is a seller on ebay selling a Killer Klowns from outer space quad and is asking a ridiculous price. He is asking over $16,000 for this. Now that is insane lol. Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out.

Yeah, that has been there for a while at that same price.  Its a guy that uses ebay to show off his collection.  All offers for it are auto rejected.  Its a complete waste of time, and he comes across as a pompous asshole in the process.

What a waste of time and money on his dumb ass part. Anyone that would actually spend that much for that poster is a fool.
