In an attempt to pull this thread baaaaack on topic, wtf?

http://cgi.ebay.com/JURASSIC-PARK-1SH-ORIG-MOVIE-POSTER-1993-NO-RESERVE-/180658729513?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a10197229

Condition is lacking for that bid, but price wise... I have a few that I am in no hurry to sell. I am not going to part with any for less than $75. I see they do not go for much when Bruce has offered them up, that was kind of surprising.

I didn't think it would get that high considering its condition. I hope the buyer doesn't return it!

I just bought this same exact poster for $5.00, the opening bid, earlier this month. I didn't even have to pay for shipping because it was combined with another poster.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150593927706&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Also worth noting the poster I received was practically flawless with only very minor edge whiting. I hope this guy is happy.

With your pictures Dave, there is absolutely no reason unless they simply bid without looking.

In Bruce's auction last night, here is one that I simply don't get:
http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2194085

Yeah, it has Vivian Leigh and Olivier, but the movie is a throwaway.  $460??

A lot of equally cool portrait cards were going for under $10.

After $200 it was the same two guys so it looks like it might been a heat of the moment war?

and or maybe that card in that condition is rare and they needed it for a set?

Scares me though  :P

Does dry mounting decrease value of a poster this much? Or did this just go under the radar?

Yeah dry mounting equates with destruction (unless you just want to display it).  In that case, the buyer did very well!

They were in pretty rough shape for display as well.  Looked like dorm room fodder to me.

To removed the Jaws poster from the backing it would probably cost between $200 and $500 depending on who you use.  And that doesn't include the fee for linen backing and restoration (another $250+).  You'd be much better off just buying a new one in good condition for $150-ish, or in VF/NM for $300+.

This very rare and cool Batwoman Italian one-panel got away from me at the end.  I spotted this on NS4 & Lar Erik's blog a while back and have been on the lookout every since.  Not at all easy to find this one:

And on May 18th, the same poster from the same seller closed with no bids, and could have been had for $250.00    cool1

Check the buyer's history.  Looks a little fishy.

Yep, I deliberately passed it up the first round in hopes that the price would go down the second round.  It did start at $150 the second round but ended up $316 the second time.  That's the way it goes on Ebay.

Recalled Omen sold for $$$ tonight at Emovie"

"This poster is the rare re-called style B teaser from this movie! It is hard to photograph but the boy's shadow at upper left forms an upside-down cross that extends into the center of the poster (it is easier to see in our super-sized image). When this poster first appeared, religious leaders were outraged at the sacrilegious portrayal of an upside-down cross and this poster caused much controversy. So much so that the poster was pulled almost immediately and new teasers were issued with a less controversial wolf's shadow image."

Here is a pic with more exposure of the cross:

THE OMEN finally went for $409.00 There was a bit of a bid war that kept extending the auction time, too.

Bruce sold the same poster in other years-- one in 2009 for 47.00 and more recently, in November of 2010 for 33.00 (although this copy was described as in fair condition):  http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/5813719.html

Nothing like a nice little battle to drive up the price, however.  :D

Here's the pisser....  That poster probably cost the seller, if he's trolling Tokyo, about $20. Maybe $50.  The last copy I got years ago I paid $50 for to someone who scouts locally in Tokyo.  That copy ended up getting traded to my dear friend Thierry ( puke2 ) for a nice poster.  It does give me a hard-on, though, to see it sell for $2500.  Usually I'm on the ass end of that, trying to find a copy to buy.
