Am I the only one that thinks this is one damn ugly poster for US $2,756.75?
Classic? Yes. Rare? Yes. But come on...  US $2,756.75?

Agree with you, Matias.. this is ONE boring looking poster, graphically and visually, IMO. Must be a rare enough quad for the someone(s) to have bid against each other to get it to that price??

I'm amazed, but it happens all the time, when 2 (or more) want a piece and the timing is right.

Are quads for this film that scarce?

Still...  I am jawdrop

YesJeff, Quads are very scarce for this title. You guys must also remember The U.K. has nowhere near the amount of Cinemas that the U.S. has, so Posters in the U.K. are printed in much smaller quantities.

That said it's a very silly price. If they had waited one could have been had for half that, but as collectors sometimes we can't wait...

I think they are quite rare in the US auctions, but Christies has sold 15+ of them over the years.  The more recent actions there have ended between about $1500 and $2000.  However, the most recent auction from 2010 only sold for $1,100.

I agree Paul. I much prefer the US one sheet, even if the Tommy-gun toting chap in the chair and the map-covered lady have little to do with the actual film. The Japanese poster is also a good one IMO.

If you minus the buyers premium and V.A.T @17.5%,what price did this one actually sell for?

Is that her or her stunt double on the poster?

I wonder what the entire trade mags would have sold for?

These are incredibly cool Saul Bass trade ads! It's a shame they mostly discarded his great ideas for mundane images. He was truly FAR ahead of his time!

I wasn't even close on this one, but did put in a sizable bid!  Did any of you win it?

Fonda is foxy as always.. but this poster has some MAJOR foxing issues happening at the bottom and reverse sides that will need to be removed:  :o

Sure, but this is one of those instances where it is worth it to restore. It went a little higher than i would have paid given the condition. But the colors are still fantastic and, foxing or no, it will clean up nicely.

For sure, Matt.. i was just pointing out those conditions since foxing came up recently, in another thread.   :)

40 x 60s have a super high gloss finish, and that foxing and the many creases won't "come out" through pressing and chemical means. The end result of this restoration will almost surely be a heavily restored poster.

Bruce.. is the foxing more steadfast because the glossy layer seals in the fox spots? Similar to locking them in?

I can't believe someone paid all that smack for that ruined BARBARELLA 40x60.
Next to the Czech, I think it is the most unattractive BARBARELLA of 'em all.
The McGinnis one sheet is THE iconic poster to have for this film.
McGinnis' Fonda looks better than the real thing.
Ohhh, those legs...

The shot glass will come in handy when the new owner sees just how messed up it is, and when he learns it needs to be "re-painted" to look presentable.

I hope the seller includes the shot glass with the poster!
