This cool Circus of Horrors quad went for $358 tonight at Heritage (I also like the one sheet for this):

Did you buy anything, Mel?
You must have been watching it, because didn't the auction end just a few minutes ago or so?
I'm not entirely sure mind - I just happened to click on here and remember that it I thought the auction was scheduled to finish at 10pm CT?

EDIT: Just seen Mel's post in Latest Acquisitions Thread over 10 minutes after posting this message.

Ha - I think the quad probably wins this round, as it seems more colorful and the OS seems cramped, although I prefer the more menacing character on the OS and don't like the exposed knife on the quad:

Anyone else bid in this auction today?  Just search on "poster" and you can see a handful of choice movie posters were auctioned off today...

http://www.proxibid.com/asp/Catalog.asp?aid=36413

I won the In a Lonely Place French 1-panel (been after this one for a long whiel) and the Touch of Evil Belgian.

My bid wasn't even close on the Vertigo 1-sheet though.  And while I didn't bid on the TCAT 3-sheet, someone got a helluva deal at $250 + 17% BP!  I'm also regretting not bidding on the Italian poster below... I've never even heard of the movie, but that poster is just stunning.  A great buy at $117 IMO!

Nice job as usual Matt!  Someone got a Vertigo daybill for a very nice price.

There was also a fantastic French "Big Clock" sold :(

Are you confident the Touch of Evil is not a reprint?  It looks really clean...

Oh and how about next time you spread some fellow collector love and give a heads up when there are daybills to be had in odd places?!

As long as you promise not to bid on my big French Bogies... you've got a deal... for next time  ;)

I'm not too worried about authenticity on this lot... all of them have receipts from Posteritati, Reel Poster Gallery, Filmposters.net, etc... and were bought in just the last few years.  That said, what I'm not sure about is whether or not it has been restored or backed.  They wouldn't take it out of the frame prior to bidding.  I also need to figure out if I should try to ship the Bogart framed for probably a few hundred or spend a few hundred try to re-frame it once it arrives...

All I do know for sure, is that some poor sucker in Midland, TX must have lost his ass prospecting oil or something... I can't imagine he'd be doing anything else out there in the middle of nowhere.  The bank probably foreclosed on him just as oil prices were rebounding in the last month!

By the way, I was the second high bidder on that one at $75.

It's a deal on the Bogies - you just leave the Aussie paper to me...

And it looks like you got a great deal on the In a Lonely Place - it sold for twice that in 2005 Heritage: http://movieposters.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=624&Lot_No=28674

I wonder if it's the same poster as this is the only sales record I could find?

In my opinion, I would pay the extra to have it shipped (carefully!) in the frame given the size - it will surely be a pain in the ass to try and reframe it!

Don't forget the 17% BP... still, I think I got it at as good of a price as I could have hoped for.  Dominique also had one a few months back, but it has already been sold (this is an old link... it's not on the site anymore).  Not sure if it went for the full 2400 Euros ($3400) or not...

What's a 17% BP when you are buying a giant, framed French Bogie!?

I'm amazed that this poster sold for only 117.00  (inc the BP) :o
It's a beautiful poster, for sure.

Someone scored, in a BIG way! The linen backing cost alone for that size poster would have been over 100.00.

Guy must have really wanted it and I dont know maybe it is really bloody rare.  8)

If you ever change your mind and you decide that maybe you also really want it, dave at cm has it for only $60 more than that.

If I was that buyer, i'd be very  moron1 at myself, as there is a ROLLED copy available, for $99.99 !  (It's not an auction or I would have posted in the other thread).   ;)

Our friend Hideyuki had a nice hit tonight...

Yeah, that's not too shabby.  He also sold a real nice looking rolled Hildebrandt quad for the same price.  But wait...there's more 8)! Still has 74 insanely rare Star Wars posters ending over the next few days.  The number of extremely rare Star Wars posters he has is incredible.  I can't imagine the temptations Star Wars collectors must go through when they see he is having an auction.  ;D  (Gif needed)
