Wow, Jedi 6sht.  Impressive.  I already own it but was going to go for another one.  I told Mike (Undead) I was going to bid $2.5k (when it was at $1k) just for the hell of it.  Little did I know...

A gorgeous poster, to be sure.  Here's mine.

T

I remember this one from eBay. I can't remember if I had a small bid on it or not, but a real steal compared to the one at EMP.

what are you? A midget?

I just guessed at the length.  You made me go dig it up.  It is about 3-4 inches shorter than yours.  But its in much better condition.  I wasn't counting the handle. So there!

So, someone got a steal at Astons auction today. The War of the worlds Quad only made 18K + Commission.   Wish I'd had the spare cash.... eyeroll

And here's a cool little article from Dec discussing this and a few other quads all from the same collector that were auctioned along with several pics:

The original Lamp Post version double sided LA LA LAND one sheets (without the awards/nominations text) are unbelievably tough to find in great condition. Unless a boatload are suddenly dumped on the open market, this will be a very valuable poster in the future.

The awards/nominations text makes it look like crap. You're right; the few in great condition on Ebay have jacked prices.

Let's see what happens if/when La La Land cleans up at the Academy Awards.

This one? They squeezed a 2 star review between the characters to make it look like a 4 star review :) quite clever

I'm always amazed how you guys know about these auctions.  Never heard of Astons before.  Had I known about it, I would have probably bid on a few things.

For me, with my intra niche search, these auctions pop up as a result of an occasional search on Saleroom and Invaluable.

But for future reference, it seems Astons are going for a thrice yearly poster auction along the lines of Ewbanks.

Thanks for posting that link, an interesting article. Had to smile at the quote from his widow that a "friend" had offered £1000 for the whole collection before she decided to consign to auction instead - good decision!

And, yes, that "War Of The Worlds" is a beauty.

Speaking to someone about the Astons auction a great deal of the paper in this auction belonged to a chap who worked in the cinema for the RAF.

I'm not sure what years he worked there but more than likely these treasures were just stored somewhere and he was allowed to keep/take them.

Fabulous posters and I am absolutely gutted I was the under bidder on The Outlaw UK quad. One incredible poster.

Will we see another? I'm not so sure.

Edit: Never saw the Sun article.
