I'm way below 50%.  Everything I won is a consolation price.  There are still a few more, but I'm losing hope.

T

I got my #1 interest in the auction (the Big Sleep promo for Royal Crown)

I wanted to try for the double indemnity cards, but I have a few already and it just would have been a nice set. they come around often enough

there are some other items. I lost out of the Fools For Luck tc as underbidder. I might get something else.

still a major collector.. can't get enough

whats a "CUT" bid?

if the current bid is over a certain price and you have bid before (or maybe not?) let's say the bid is at 1000 and the next increment is 1100
you can bid 1050, but you can only do it one time per lot and the next bidder, rather than going up another 100 bucks only needs to complete the bid to 1100

One.  And it's linenbacked.  I realized it after the end of auction.  It wasn't even on my list, but I kinda like it.  Posted it in the March thread.

I was a liitle surprised this one got passed over:

JP B2 for Ghost of Frankenstein

Post Auction Buy $ is $896.25

you know what, a made a post-auction buy (until the process it, I don't 'have' it) and I was very surprised I could get [this item] for a low price.
but that is the nature of auctions, depending on the venue, from 1% to 5/10% sells above value, another 10-20% sells for value, the rest sells below value - which is why everyone likes auctions. As a seller, you are exposed to the vagaries of the market on a particular day, which is different than running a retail business.

I guess I was more going on the Universal horror element here, which usually seems to do pretty well, regardless of venue. But, as you said, it's the luck of the draw, the day, those watching and bidding or not that always makes each auction unique.

I know prices fluctuate but is that Gilda one sheet really valued in the high 20000 range?

I'm sure I saw one available about seven years ago for around $1200 (original release)

Has the value really increased that much?

This auction so far has been a wash out for me, I wanted three things first day, two just went stupid and was the under bidder on another. There's Always another day in the poster collecting world.

Hope everyone gets what they want.

even 7 years ago 1200 for Gilda was lower than bargain basement price

it's one of the most popular vintage posters in the current market

Some nice WWI material going by, right now, too.  thumbsup.gif
I can tell you some of the war posters and travel posters are going for ridiculous amounts. Nothing new I guess - the power of Heritage and all that.

At a post auction BIN price of $20, 912.50, I wonder if this beauty will be going to a collector's home, any time soon:   bed1

they had $30k in post auction buys overnight, including my buy of the 2 Unholy 3 cards that didn't sell (how could they not sell for 300 bid?)

I wouldn't be surprised if that Frankie poster sells

Bruce sold a Gilda 6 years ago for $25K.  I haven't heard of a copy selling for less than 15K in at least 15 years - at least of the style B. You can find the style A for $1200 if you are lucky (or the R50 one-sheet).

The Japanese Ghost of Frankenstein is a great deal at current price. I was considering buying it to send it back to Japan to auction.

Rich, it would be interesting to know which other scene card was used as the backing on the one restored card of yours. Are you able to tell at all what the imagery is? Very cool, in a way, and now a bit of a mystery to ID that card, if it can't be made out at all.  sherlockholmes.gif

So, in a sense, you got 3 cards for the price of 2!  thumbsup.gif

As a side observation, it was great to see the varied selection of Chaney cards that was offered from a number of his flickers.  bed1

WOW... A James Bond toy set from 1965 sold for $6871.25

the best James Bond toy there ever was.
I had it, played with it until all the bullets were gone and I had used all the coins to bribe foreign officials.

This autographed still just sold for 191.20

It is accompanied with a Cert of Authenticity, from the Original seller, dated 2002, that says should the signature ever be shown to not be genuine, that a full refund would be given, at any time. It's good to see that there are no time restrictions, should further research by any new owner show that the signature was not the real deal and was added later.
