Never heard of Skrill, but the write up seems very thorough.

And it is always interesting to see scammers hard at work.

Anyone ever read the 419eater.com site where a British chap takes these (mostly Nigerian) guys on and actually succeeds in reversing the scam on the scammers with, very often, utterly hilarious results.  Some of the reads are quite in depth and one has to stay with the to and fro of the exchange to the end, but the chap's skills at writing, technology and artistry, not to mention humour, make for brilliant reading.

I have been in painful tears while reading these stories in the office.

yeah I love that site,

Watched this one with interest.

Normally a 5 figure card, but about half of it was missing and had been recreated.  The $310 it went for is probably about right, but was higher than I was willing to go for something so heavily recreated.

Bruce had a lot of good cards last night.  I thought there would be bargains because of it, but everything seemed to go for around market.  Didn't end up getting anything.

Was one of mine, was hoping it would do better but did not expect a lot. For your reference, pre-resto image and was restored by Mario.

Thanks for the image.  I must say that Mario did a very nice job given what he had to work with.  I came so close to staying in, but just couldn't justify the amount that was recreated.

Understandable, I would have been out as well. What I did get out of it will go towards my Worlds Fair poster fund so at least it will go to a good use.

I honestly would need to find the receipt for it, don't remember off the top of my head. Not a lot though if I recall right around $200 I think. I had him do two pieces including this one for a total of around $600 shipped.

This one for Back to School is neat.  Is it a really rare style?  PosterChild (aka Cinemasterpieces?) won it, so maybe it will appear for sale there soon.

When was this ever a 5-figure card?
Or do you mean $xxxx.x?

that card is an excellent example of how restoration does not create more value.

Reminds me of that Thunderball quad that had had the credits and all surrounding text cut away from the image of Bond and girls.

After linen backing, all titling and credits was painted on to, presumably, several pieces of sewn together archival paper.  Which begs the question, when does restoration become complete creation?

And while I am performing miracles with rhetorical questions, when does grave robbing become archaeology?

Is Jeff Chris?

Wish I knew why Chris is no longer here. I feel I must be the only one who doesn't know, anyway, miss seeing the daybills, but not missing the jibes

I don't remember the "unfortunate times" last year. I thank APF from shielding me from those times and for the lack of nearly anyone sending me Private messages thus keeping me out of the loop.

I don't remember him taking any jibes?  He did share a lot of nice paper.

Right at the end of CMS's tenure I felt I had to watch every word I said such that exposing any sign of weakness like making fun of myself he would milk it for all it was worth to make me look stupid. Though I did have a little poke here and there haha

"She" is lovely, Steve!  faint2.gif  blowingkiss.gif

Something about her reminds me of our former apf-friend, Whoopie. I think it's the hair.

Oh I see CSM left VMPF at the same time as here. Still on Ari's forum though.... I'll try to connect the dots...
Wonka left in Nov, Ted in Jan (but maybe that is too recent to stay left), ATLFun in Nov, probably all misses there

Hmmm... maybe a daybill site... I'll try Googling....

Bit hard, nearly given up...!
