Nice, I'm a bit of a Chaplin convert. I never gave the films much time, but on a recent international flight I watched one, and boy did I laugh and cry. Really impressed. Sadly I had a beautiful original still that I sold years ago, I would have liked to have it now.

He was a unique talent, I agree with you, Ari. Funny, sad and the emotions he could elicit. Wow.

Do you remember what film the old still was from?

The Big Lebowski Int'l OS sold last night for $900.00 on EMP.  faint2.gif  Is this poster style super rare or something?

Yes, extremely rare and of course as "cult" of a movie as they come -- I mean there is an annual festival celebrating it! :)

I'm guessing this was Mel's copy.

Was a nice clean copy. I was going to bid, but the price was well-beyond what I thought it would go for.

Same here. I nearly went for it too.  It is one of my favourite films. Need to get a poster of the Dude!

I heard everyone attends the festival dressed in a robe. Incidentally I went to an exhibition here in London and I read that it was Jeff Bridges's idea and he appeared on set wearing his own robe...and off he went to film it.

That man is just a treasure.

The 2nd high win on EMP, this past Thurs, was the US OS for The Boondock Saints (1999), going for $507.00   thumbsup.gif

I dont know this movie at all, but sounds like another cult classic (or on the way to being one). Again, is this style rare or not seen all that much?

Was it Paul in another thread looking for good flicks... Jeff after Halloween you need to watch Boondock Saints its definitely a great movie.  Very under the radar at the time and never got the attention it deserved including some great roles/performances.  It wont change your life, but its very entertaining.

Like i said it was a sleeper hit...people are still discovering it.  It might also have to do with Norman Reedus attaining god-like status as Darel Dixon in the AMC series the Walking Dead, one of the highest rated shows on TV, period.   http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005342/?ref_=tt_cl_t4

It does look like they are fairly uncommon, on EMP anyways, maybe Jason or Brandon know. Is this a poster we can say is "trending"?

If it helps this is the blurb I wrote up to help explain the rarity of posters for this film... the blurb is for a super rare Japanese B1 advance I'm going to be selling in the near future.

Quote
A cult movie if ever there was one, this movie grossed only $30,000 at the domestic box office (yes you read that correctly), but as of 2009 had $50 million in US video sales almost solely from word of mouth.  Boondock Saints had an extremely troubled multi-year trip to the big screen -- there were three aborted production attempts by Miramax, New Line and Paramount before finally being financed independently for only $7 million.  It was shopped around at Cannes but no studios were interested in distributing it.  After finally getting an independent distribution, it only screened in 5 theaters (yes, 5) for a single week!  And despite being released theatrically in another dozen or so countries, the worldwide box office was a laughable $400k.  It's pretty safe to say that almost nobody saw this film in the theaters -- which makes this advance Japanese B1 all the more rare!  Easily the best art from any country and with only a tiny title in Kanji, it could almost pass for an english language poster.

Moral of the story... tiny theatrical distribution + huge cult following.

It's been taking forever, but with any luck I'll be launching my website soon and it will go on sale there.  I'm working on two websites -- a for sale site and the Eastern European reference site I've been promising for a (long) while.  For obvious reason the for sale needs to go online first!   :o

Here is the Japanese advance.  Below that is a shot of what it will look like displayed on my website.
