Estate sale. Proximity to movie studio. "I'm no expert". I steer clear of any auctions where these words are used.

Mark

"Estate Sale" doesn't scare me at all....I have scored plenty of beautiful and scarce posters via online Estate Sale auctions or plunderers thereof...but then again I know what I'm doing....So yes please stay very far away from Estate Sales  ;)...or at least pm me anytime you find any Estate Sale that has a trove of rarities like the last large group of perfect condition silent film lobby card sets that Heritage broke up and sold over the last 2 years!!

Seems like every time I look at the recently sold Pulp Fiction posters on eBay, there is at least one Lucky Strikes bootleg, sold as an original.

ChanningPosters is the seller of this one.  Isn't that the same guy who is a member here?

There was no mention of this being a bootleg, which it is, as it has the white speckles on the chest.  It was listed and sold for $150.00, which of course is also a big red flag, as that price is "too good to be true."  Another red flag is that the edges of the photo are cropped.

Good eye Brandon. This poster has lost some of its value. Last sold at HA was for 1300$ i think but 150$ is far too cheap!!! I can't see the pic well but as you say that price just shouts at you " I am a fake"

I wouldn't say the originals have lost value.  The last one at HA that you mentioned sold for $1,300 is in the ballpark of the current market value for them.

I don't know if Channing is a member here, but certainly on mopo and a long timer in the hobby.
I suspect it's an accident, I don't believe he is dodgy for a minute.
Assuming it's the same Channing.

Yup odd one there. He knows the value of the Pulp Lucky Strikes so he has to know that his isnt genuine and priced it accordingly. Shrugs

I think he probably just used the wrong stock photo - too knowledgeable to make the mistake otherwise

But if Channing used a wrong stock pic by accident, why would it have also been priced, as a BIN, for such a low number?   dontknow.gif

Channing is a 100 percenter.
I suspect it's the wrong image but have messaged him

It still doesn't explain the "too good to be true" price it was listed for, if the actual poster sold is an original, as Jeff mentioned.  The price is high for a bootleg (which usually sell for $10-$20 when they're rightfully described as such), and of course, way too low for an original in good condition.

Maybe Channing will shed some light on this strange scenario.
