Yep...and there have been some real steals....I am extremely happy with the ones I have won....I have been looking for a card from this film for nearly 20 years...and I thought it was cheap...considering what it is...

Beautiful, Tait!!

Congrats!!  thumbsup.gif

I guess what I wonder is how many single buyers they have.  Is it like a dozen collectors with deep pockets going at it, or hundreds.  There seems to be a lot of interest, at least judging by the final sale price.  It kind of amazes me that so many people would be interested and willing to spend so much.

I thought it was a niche hobby.

Thanks Rosa...I am soooo stoked...there are only 3 total Cops cards that I have been able to trace...1 in Osians in India film archive....one in the Hersh-allen archive....and this one!!! There is no larger format paper known :(

I didnt bid on The General...but I will let you in on a secret...there are 2 more cards from The General to be in future Morrie auctions! ;)

Every major collector came out of the wood works....institutions....dealers like Ira, Walter, Hazelton etc.people with deep pockets....all the major players...celeb collectors....there are probably around 1500 bidders...Heritage usually gets a similar crowd...

And it couldn't happen to a nicer guy, really chuffed for Morry.

I only wanted this one and got it. Like Tait never seen before and I've been looking. Great octopus/manic guy combo this title card of the movie that introduced the great Michael Powell in the world of movie making.

And yes that Buster Keaton one is stunningly rare and nice too. To some of the naysayers: lobby cards from the twenties and early thirties really capture the golden age of movie making and they are a designers joy, often nicer than the posters, perfect combination of typography and border art.

I don't think there are any naysayers on this thread.  Just questions asked, and Tait answered mine.  Thank you.

A big zero for me.

Since I'm only interested in complete lobby card sets, it limits my reach.  I tried to get The Postman Always Rings Twice, War of the Worlds, The Seven Year Itch, The Prince and the Showgirl and a couple others and failed miserably.

A big neg for me is the fact that they don't show you the final price...  +28% commission fee and +10% CA Tax...  It adds up.  Oh well, Heritage is next.

Cheers to Morrie, jeers to all the wankers stealing what rightfully belongs to me.

I was under the impression that it was 28% commission if you won over the internet when bidding? Can you direct me to where it states that if you win over the internet and pay with a credit card it is 24%? That would be awesome if this is true!!  Thanks Rich.......BTW   Did you win anything?

For all 3 cards?!?!  That seems crazy low!  Great score.

That's what I thought....the 2 cards before it had a hammer of $3500...granted they are the best cards but the condition wasnt that great....these looked to be in great condition and unrestored...when the bid was at $1100 I bumped it up a bid and won....very surprised!

you're right, internet bidding is 28%

If you bid through a third party like invaluable doesn't a certain % go to them explaining 2-3% of the BP?
