Congrats!  And no worries, I have so many Eastern Europeans now that I try not to go overboard -- hence you got it for a good price :)

Now... when I do go overboard, LOOK OUT!  gun1
Ha ha. I actually had bidder's - then buyer's - remorse... Change your bloody account name!  Let us all live in the dark. ;)

Well, it's part of my Spielberg collection, so I tend to go overboard a little.  Plus, ET is my favorite childhood movie.  A friend of mine was a PA on the movie and I have so many stories on the making of ET.  But not for a public forum.

Now regarding collecting, don't stress it, everything comes around.  Lose one, you'll find another one.

T

I wouldn't mind hearing those stories! I wouldn't mind hearing about how you managed to get the set of the 3 black and white Gremlins.

I have lost several in my short days collecting, some have yet to show up again. Others showed up a week later. So I have grown to understand the importance of patience in this hobby. I was admittedly disappointed when I was outbid on a Resident Evil Extinction B2 and my computer decided to randomly freeze up during the last moments of the bid extension. moron1 Stupid technology

Yeah, T's got a few Polish-es I wouldn't mind on me wall.  As for me, I scored (sorry matt) this bad boy, which I can't wait to get and frame. Quintessential polish prize for me.  Have not seen a lot of these.  I wonder if the "sensurround" bit listed in the description on the US OS and on the lobby card influenced the design.

That is indeed a lovely Polish poster. Congrats on winning it! I often also wonder about how some of the art came to be, for example the Polish Aliens???
Or how about that Polish Exorcist I picked up recently? The snake and the tree.......I would like to see these through the eyes of the artists, understand it as they did creating them.

As for outbidding/underbidding others, I don't know who you are PorkChopExpress but you have good taste! You got me last time, I got you yesterday. So until next time........

All movies I grew up on.  But ET holds a special place.  It closed the Cannes Film Festival in May 1982 and my uncle told me that the entire theater was in tears, something that doesn't happen very often, if ever, at Cannes.  Spielberg, who was hiding behind the curtain the whole movie, was convinced his $10 million personal movie would come and go, and was reportedly shocked to see the Cannes intellectuals embrace it with such fervor.  It officially came out in June in the US and then December 1st in Paris, so I had to wait 7 months.  7 months of reading glowing reviews and hearing that it was the biggest success of all time in the US.  I saw it at the 2 o'clock screening on Wednesday the 1st and ended up seeing it 3 times that day, and a dozen times that week.  I know that because I kept a journal of the movies I saw in my early teens and I still have it.  Then I started collecting everything on the movie.  I have an entire box of magazines from around the world, photos, newspapers, stickers, everything I could put my hands on.  So when I started collecting posters 15 years ago, I made sure ET would be front and center.

T

Nice story...

So are you suggesting this bidder is Kurt Russell? Or the name is simply a reference to Big Trouble Little China?

If I had to guess, I think Ted was implying the latter, but hoping it might be the former  ;D

Not sure I could ever claim any one film is my favorite, but yes, top 10 for sure.  Marvelous, layered movie and quite possibly GH's best performance.  To top it off Coppola managed to film this in parallel with Godfather II and the two films were up against each other for best picture -- He was really firing on all cylinders during the 70s.

I was watching few things from Bruce last night. I noticed that some posters rocketed 42$ to 212$  in a second!

Spanish IHON R48. It went for 212$

The Searchers (trimmed LC) went for 12$

Wonder whether the owner will restore it or just keep it as it is..

A lot of this stuff went for way above what it's worth (or what I think it's worth.)  Sad for me :(
