He had some work done. That's where his unpaid taxes went I assume.

This really nice looking, first release WC for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was auctioned a short time ago on the bay, for $660.00, from a seller in Japan.  bed1

Agree... even the copies sold by HA at various times were trimmed at the bottom (1 copy), or had good sized chips missing from the top and/or bottom corner areas.

That is a pretty soft result for that card considering the condition...probably because it's an eBay listing shipping from Japan...it's the "meh" dwarfs style that has always had mixed results....in the last 2 years or so that style sold for $1175 & $857...Now $660....Disney posters have some of the wildest swings for similar condition material in the market....they always have....on the flip side the style "c" one sheet is one of the nicest pieces from 1937...Come to think of it 1937 isn't a great  poster year for the most part...small format posters might actually be more fun that year...inserts, half sheets, lobby cards etc.. But then again that Angel 3sht with Marlene is a decent consolation prize for those that can't snag a Red-Headed Woman one sheet (1932)....as a side note there were some damn cool letter work/font/title designs in 1937... The red trippy Marx bros. Lettering on the A day at the races insert, the font on the Angel 3 sheet and The stardust fade cursive on the Paris expo French petite ....oh and the marked woman X design....Fun stuff

yes. but I'm not certain that is a 1933 release poster, which si why I wonder if Matias will chime in

(today is Matias birthday)

Thanks for all the wishes people!

As for the poster, I do think is for the original release, don't ask me why, but it does not look like a rerelease.
What I do know is that the seller (superetendard) is doing something in the line of Cinemasterpieces' "Special orders"
He's listing posters he does not own yet, with high BIN prices and when he makes the sale on ebay, purchases the poster from another local seller who does not sell internationally.

The house of dracula he has listed at $1200 here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOUSE-OF-DRACULA-Original-1945-movie-poster-Lon-Chaney-jr-Wolfman-Frankenstein-/261611329075?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ce9401633

can be bought at around $700 here:

http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-525995279-afiche-de-cine-la-mansion-de-dracula-1945-lon-chaney-_JM

He recently sold an argentinean "House of frankenstein" too, so it seems to be working.

Quite the strategy!

Until the one he was looking at ge5ts sold out from under him.  Then he has to scramble to find a replacement.  Much like playing the futures market.

Precisely.  It's shady business practise that's for sure - selling things you do not even yet own.

That's unlikely to happen Jay. The original owner of the posters very rarely sells them. His prices are too high for the local market (as there is not a lot of poster collectors down here, and the few that exist are not willing to pay high amounts). For foreign collectors, the $700 he is asking for the House of Dracula, can be seen as a low price, but $700 is the equivalent of an average salary down here. The exchange rate is 8,5 pesos for 1 dollar...

Brazillian posters.. how much do they differ from Argentinian posters?

Cumprimentos.

My apologies to everyone else ... I just realized how rude it was of me to post in Portuguese.  I'm just trying to find out from Matias if he knows of a Brazilian site where I can purchase Brazilian posters from trustworthy vendor(s).

I replied in portuguese because I didn't know if you spoke english.
Yes, mercadolibre (like ebay) is like a lottery, you can get some great sellers and others not so good.

Bruce at emovieposter has auctioned some brazilian posters (http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/brazilian/type/Brazilian/archive.html)
You can set an account and creat an alert that will let you know when brazilian stuff comes up for auction.
Hope it helps!

Precisely.  It's shady business practise that's for sure - selling things you do not even yet own.

That's why the watermark on picture or even better a small paper with code/ID on item is a MUST !!  Even in forum like this one where collectors share their last purchase... as lurkers steal the picture and put it on sale at higher price on the bay, a classic method !!
