Wow!  faint2.gif
What was the original price on these LE copies, when new, Sean?

$150.  It was leatherbound, had 16 extra pages of posters not in the regular hardcover, but most important it included a numbered original print by Hugo Award winning artist Bob Eggleton that was hand signed by actors Akira Takarada (star of the original 1954 Godzilla) and Haruo Nakajima (Godzilla himself).
So I can't say that price is due to me, it was mainly them.

But I am glad that people like the regular one enough that it is selling for nearly triple the original presale price.  :)

Vectis have had their poster sale today.  At the time of writing, they are now looking after the toy section.

Many lots were withdrawn prior to the auction, and many lots did not sell on the day.

Possibly the biggest success were the three Man Golden Gun Marler Haley DCs that went for ~£200-£300 each!  Superb result.  Wondering if the fella(s) who got those were completing a collection...

"Many lots were withdrawn prior to the auction, and many lots did not sell on the day."
I would suspect this is due to the problems with bidding on line as mentioned before.
Shame, it could have been good. It leaves the door open for someone to do it properly!

Basically, one chap withdrew to reinsert in the Vectis December auction.

The bidding on the Vectos site all seemed fine, I did make one minor purchase without problem.

Super cool one sheet for "Unheimliche Geschichten" or "The living dead". From the 30s

Very cool poster, for sure, Matias!  thumbsup.gif  It has that vivid silkscreen look to it.

Side factoid: The film was first released in Germany in 1932, but the English dubbed version was not released in the US until December, 1940.  (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023640/releaseinfo )  (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023640/companycredits?ref_=ttrel_ql_5)

Aj brought this poster up in its own thread... asking about the African 1940'sRR King Kong poster that was offered on emovie.

Even in the condition it was in, it still sold for $479.00

That's my kind of poster.  Iconic title, good graphics and it wears its history proudly.  I'd have bid that if I were in a position to be buying.

That Kong poster is too far gone for me.  Don't mind the holes and border damage so much, its just the awful fading of the colors.
This is how it should look, minus the OBVIOUS and glaring color enhancement by HA.

I agree with you jay... its great to see posters that have lived a full life and still present like this... let alone traveling from half way around the globe.  thumbsup.gif

Yeah.. the fading is a bit tough, that's for sure...  :'(

And by contrast, the HA copy sold for almost 10x as much! ($4481.25 inc BP).

OK, I'll concede on the fading issue.  I've turned down posters for that in the past.
