$1475.00 for this Australian OS from 1936 for Orphan of the Wilderness. Is this a rare poster? Or is it more because of it being from 1936? Is Aussie material from back then much harder to come by?

Tho... this 1949 Aussie OS for Eureka Stockade went for $2200.00 today.

So true, Vick.. I also wondered if Bette might not take the top slot. It's a beautiful poster, no doubt about it.  happy1

Jeff, those 2 posters are for important Australian films or stories and the Aussies pay good money for films of that nature

Thanks for the info, Rich; that makes total sense then, why each went for a pretty penny.

The consignor took a bit of a dip on this recent sale.

The US OS for Knight Without Armor sold on emovie on Sept 16 for $585.00.

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=3578418

Yet this very same copy was bought at HA, on July 27, 2013, for $896.25 (inc BP)

http://movieposters.ha.com/itm/drama/knight-without-armor-united-artists-1937-one-sheet-27-x-41-/a/7078-83501.s

After the emovie's 22% commission, the consignor received $456.30

Ouch.  crying

Who knows, maybe he had the pleasure of owning it for a few months, and this drop in price doesn't matter to him.  Maybe he LOVES Dietrich.  We shall never know  :P ;D >:D

Or maybe he/she didnt really know who Dietrich even was... in their mind, just some old time movie actress, whose movies had never been seen. And the old paper lost its luster after a time.... crying  ;D  devil 2
