The perceived rarity of "recalled" posters is the dealers wet dream.

The perception can be very real, but it can also be used as a BS selling technique - it all depends on the kind of recall.

As for the PFLS, I would say in the low-to-mid hundreds and almost certainly not less than 100.  It is the best execution of a brilliant design concept...

I would also say that there were multiple printings of the regular Pulp Fictions.  My theater receive two separate shipments weeks apart, which was exceptionally rare except in the case of changes being made to the poster and that doesn't seem to be the case here.  By contrast, there are significantly fewer dictionary advances around, the most under-appreciated of the three.

It's all about condition, Mike.  The Jaws is rolled and the ET has issues.  Personally, I would accept creases on Jaws because it's rolled and rare, but ET needs to be mint, imo.  I would not buy it in the condition it's in.  But then again, I'm a stickler about condition.

Completely understand. I'm all about condition as well, but that Jaws had a 2+ inch tear into the credits. Granted the repeating vertical crease is one of my greatest pet-peeves and it was throughout the main image, but still I was shocked by the differential.

Where the hell has this style been hiding? Just another example of things in the hobby being not what they seem. I kinda have doubts it was from India. Don't see why they wouldn't be using the standard one sheet most everyone else did. I would think something like this would be used in an English speaking country. The size is odd but that doesn't mean it couldn't of been printed in the US. The fact it's never surfaced before makes me wonder if it wasn't a special printing for the higher ups on the film. Obviously very few were printed. Crazier shit has happened.

I still like the UK version better. ;)

One sold on ebay not too long ago for under $100 I think.

Really, so two have surfaced in the past month.
Man, the more I look at it the artwork does give off a serious "Indian" vibe. I can see why Bruce went this direction. If so, it's just weird they didn't surface years ago, and why there's so few.

Could it be the same copy?  Does anyone have a link to the eBay auction?

If it had been bought off ebay within the last month, would that have allowed enough time for it to be consigned to Bruce for this week's auction?

Its has the notation "FBDO" in the bottom right corner - it would seem odd that they would include this acronym at the time of the first release in 1986.

Most -- if not all -- Indian posters incorporate Hindi typography somewhere in the design.
Lebanese posters usually use different art, are all-English and measure 28x40.

I'm betting it is from Lebanon.

Very interesting!

Do you have any links to Bruce or Heritage auctions that show an English poster from Lebanon that is 28x40?

No links to HA or Emovie, but there is at least one Lebanese poster seller on Ebay -- ajconsignments07.
Here's a search of his current inventory with 'Lebanese' in the search:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=&item=390534328244&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_osacat=18828&hash=item5aeda8efb4&_ssn=ajconsignments07&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xlebanese&_nkw=lebanese&_sacat=18828

There are varying sizes amongst this list, but while some of their 'one sheet' ads say "40x27=100x70cm," when measured the 70cm (27 9/16) is closer to 71 cm (27 61/64).
It's been a while since I've bought anything from them (and I see the prices have gone up) but as you can see, many of the American titles use entirely diff designs and are all-English.
Many years ago, I bought a bulk lot of 1980s titles (maybe 20-25 romantic comedies) from a local collector.  They're all gone now, but I did sell one to Holiday a year or two ago. I can't remember the title (Hot Bodies?).
Maybe he still has it and can measure it up?

That was quick.  This The Texas Chainsaw Massacre video one sheet sold about an hour after being listed, for 1/10 what the last one sold for on eBay, 3 months ago.

Damn, the seller gave this one away.
Wish I'd seen it that cheap.
Apparently, there are still good deals to be found on the bay.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of it, or the movie, but since I posted about how much the last one sold for, I figured I'd mention it.

Yeah, despite the fakes, some unscrupulous sellers, shenanigans, etc. on eBay, there are still some good folks and good deals there.
