he isn't the only player Randy
Oh I know but he might have more money then the other players. Maybe he won't bid because it is to big for him. Maybe he only stays with one sheets. Doubtful though.

Sure Rich, there will be other players.
But you're forgetting that Copperfield is a magician.
He can make money out of thin air.

He wins.
No one beats him at Houdini.

I don't have any fight left in me. My only hope is that I made those two fuckers overpay by so much that the next time they come to auction they go for half that.

Soy Cuba Russian white style = $1350

Soy Cuba Russian red style = $3100

Fuck you both berta8 and In272570.  I have the original Cuban and I only paid $200 for it!   8)

Meanwhile....

The heavily discussed, emovie Belgian Casablanca poster wound up fetching $1189.00 this evening.

I was having a rough day to begin with, those big losses just put me over the edge.  So pardon my fucking French.  :D

My other consolation is that I just bought an un-cataloged lot of 95-100 Russian posters ranging from 1955-1978.  They haven't arrived yet, but maybe I'll get lucky...

I have explained that Heritage has sold this THREE TIMES as being 1940s first release over a six year period and have NOT corrected or amended those auctions. Given that, how can I in good conscience call it anything else in the main description and be fair to the consignor?

And of course I have a lengthy paragraph explaining all the controversy about this poster (and of course, Heritage in no way explained any of this).

I have also explained ad nauseum that I am going to personally explain everything that is known about this poster to the high bidder, and that I will give him the option of canceling.

And I will remove the result from our Auction History Database if he does cancel.

I, for one, have never held Heritage as the "be all and end all" in terms of setting a proper example.

My concerns have been well voiced previously.

But I do feel your action plan is fair and perhaps even commendable Bruce...

Looks like someone got a pretty good deal on this US OS for Karloff's The Ape (Monogram, 1940). It looks to be in really fine shape with no real detracting condition issues, either (other than some small border dings and and "age spots" -- it ain't too shabby looking for 74 yrs old!). The winning bid was $234.50   clap

I was watching it and was considering bidding, but I bought a few items recently that whacked my wallet recently and I need to get my 1992 3000GT VR4 completely overhauled & the engine rebuilt. I haven't driven that car since May and I tell ya, I miss my Baby

I doubt this helped the final price:
"It has been glued with tape on back. Sold as it is."

I imagine it will soon surface in another auction.

Here's a shot of the back- some stains and pieces of tape. I thought the glue reference might mean remaining glue residue when it had possibly been adhered to a wall or other display area?

This Ladykillers piece, similar to a "centerfold" from a UK pressbook, did outstanding!!  clap clap  It sold for $780.00

I've always liked this image, too-- with such great, caricature drawings of the cast!

The UK art is loads better, but I was happy to have just tracked down a very rare A1-size Czech poster... fun movie.

Looks to me like some Bestine (heck anything with Heptane) would likely easily do that poster right!

Looks more like celo tape adhesive residue, doesn't it, Chris? *those glossy areas, i mean, unless those are stray pieces of tape reflecting the light?*

To me it looks like the cellotape (sellotape?) is still adhered across all the folds...and given that it hasn't yellowed it should come off really easily

Or it's some sort of glue that has been brushed on?

Considering the age.. i bet there is a good chance, that if it is brushed on glue, it may be water-soluble.

Let's hope anyhow.

It's possible but that would be some impressively uniform glue application and why only put it on the folds and not all over the back?
