Never get in a land war in Asia. Or try to win an auction against Mark Lawd.  Some cool and rare Italian one sheets featuring Twiggy:

Very cool and rare Battlestar Galactica advance 1S but very steep price for it:

I actually sent those Twiggy posters to Bruce. Who knew? I thought maybe at best they would hit 100 to 200. Wonder what would have happened if I put them in our own auctions running right now on eBay?

They probably would have gone for 100 to 200.

You do know that the buyer, Mark, is a member here, right?  Why openly ridicule your customers?

There you go, Mark...Bruce welcomes your irrational spending any time.

You got me dead wrong there. I have the utmost respect for Mark, and his collection. He is one of the only collectors I know of where I would do another catalog, if he were to ever give me his collection to auction. It is that wonderful.

Had those posters been on eBay, Mark would still have been the winner, and the underbidder MIGHT have bid as well, but I suspect they would not have bid as high. Of course, I could be wrong. But that is my gut feeling. eBay is circling the drain. Of course, Dave has quite a following there...

It's not "irrational" to Mark.  He loves the rare stuff and will pay whatever it takes to get it.

Yes, I know Mark would have won regardless...more than familiar with his choice stuff based on pics and such since MPF.

If I took your post the wrong way, I apologize Bruce. But I am sure you can see how one would read it the way I did.

I just hope I could ever auction his wonderful collection, and while it is unlikely, a man's reach should exceed his grasp - or what's a heaven for?

THE BORG COLLECTORS NEVER SELL!

it depends on what time frame you call "never".

some collections recycle in longer time frames is all.
The material is always owned by some private party until the day it gets bequeathed to an institutional collection

if you're one of those "I have to have it NOW" you'll be in for quite  abit of disappointment

One of those three collectors (Mark, Thierry, Holiday) will insist on being buried with his posters and they will be dug up 2,000 years later like the Terracotta Army:

And then there are the many hardcore collectors out there, who are NOT a part of APF; I can think of half a dozen Serious, deep pocketed, devoted collectors that have not joined here. So the true scope of those out there, unknown, and yet to be discovered, (or those carrying their collections to the grave), is:

"Something wonderful."   cool1
