I actually think this poster is amongst the most attractive posters that has sold recently and not surprisingly, it sold for the 2nd highest recorded price for the style at $1012.00

Congrats Rich but I don't understand why anyone would pay that much for a 1960s commercial poster when a perfect recent printing goes for $100:

Now of course I can't reveal who the bidders were on the below poster, but you can guess a few of them by looking at their IDs in the bid history.

I can say that those who bid include many of the people who I consider have the greatest taste in movie posters, not surprising, since I think this poster (with a wonderful image that I have never seen before) is one of the coolest posters ever, and I can see what drew all these illustrious people to bid on it!

Mel, you aren't even up to the level of comparing apples to oranges. You're comparing apples to orange pits

first of all, asking why someone would want the vintage item rather than a contemporary printing is like asking if you would rather have an original King Kong 1sh or a 1966R

secondly, while the poster is a commercial printing, it is something of a dis-service to call it that as the poster I sold is a one-by-one-hand-produced silkscreened art print. Even in the 60s this poster sold for alot as a new item because it was limited in production

I actually think this poster is amongst the most attractive posters that has sold recently and not surprisingly, it sold for the 2nd highest recorded price for the style at $1012.00

We've had this discussion before but the image is almost exactly the same and most likely the printing quality of the most recent printing is better or equal to the 1960s:

Here's the video of the printing process:

I've watched the video Mel

they aren't comparable beasts, but if all you want is a poster for your wall, any Pulp Fiction reprint will do, right?

Likely I'm not part of the majority with this opinion but this poster doesn't do much on the poster excitement scale.  Rare / Different - you bet.  Title font is great - rest of the poster puts me to sleep -zzzzzzzzzzzzzz... The red UFO looks like lips my 9-yr old draws on animals

the art on that Invaders From Mars poster looks like Fratini is heavily influenced by the 1950s paperback art of Richard Powers

Powers does all the weird looking stuff.. other artists like Earle Bergey are also represented at this link

I'm with you - when Mel posted it my first thought was "where's the cool one?".
But that's what makes the hobby so fun, some people like that, some people like those crayon posters, and some people like pretty posters.

Funny you posted that. Jason and I were talking about that one today. I even sent the seller a message asking f they were dead serious about the shipping charges. Go figure never heard anything back.

Is that some kind of scam where it is most certainly a fake poster and you can't get your $350 back because it was a shipping price and not a price paid for the item?  I would guess that is what we are looking at.  Fucking thieves are getting creative, huh?

Idk but the entire auction was removed from ebay. It's not in me recent views anymore. Wonder if ebay did something about it because of the high shipping price?
