I'm just joshin', Bruce.

You had an A-list going tonight...seriously, incredible pieces. Congrats.

Remember the next three parts. I assure you they are not "chopped liver"!

It looked like there were a lot of bargains in the Sunday auction - especially at the top end, but Bruce is making up for it with the rest of the auction.

Not to mention that this poster does seem to make an appearance with a bit of regularity. It is one that always does really well, tho, too.  ;)

The one in Heritage was said to be in incredible condition. This one had stains in her face and the title. Which one sold for "more", taking that into account?

This one:

"The only defects it has are some creases and tiny brown stains scattered in the right edge of the right blank border, and also a tiny brown dot stain in the left edge of the upper left border, with a similar one in the upper middle of the left border, and a tiny area of brown staining in the lower left blank border"

$19,000

Apparently stains cost more ;D

The Heritage one: "Only light touchup to the folds was required, as the piece is in exceptional condition. Very Fine+ on Linen." $10,755

The one I just sold: "The poster had faint tiny brown dot stains scattered throughout, including in the title area and in the head of the woman." $7,200

The one I sold in September: "The poster was almost certainly never used, because it has a "crispness" that a folded poster quickly loses when it has been opened and folded several times. The paper is exceptionally white and the colors exceptionally bright, also indicating that the poster was never displayed. There is no paper loss or separation at the crossfolds, also indicating it was almost never opened. The only defects it has are some creases and tiny brown stains scattered in the right edge of the right blank border, and also a tiny brown dot stain in the left edge of the upper left border, with a similar one in the upper middle of the left border, and a tiny area of brown staining in the lower left blank border (see our super-sized image for the exact location and size of these). Certainly, any restorer could easily remove these tiny stains in the edges of the left and right blank borders, but I would think the vast majority of collectors would prefer to leave this wonderful poster just as it is!" $19,000

I can't tell if the Heritage one was in better condition than the one I sold in September, but I would assume one "in exceptional condition" was a LOT better than one with "faint tiny brown dot stains scattered throughout, including in the title area and in the head of the woman"

Once could be forgiven for thinking that $19K result had lifted the price expectations for this title given HA sells them for around $10K everyday as it were (albeit that price is lower than the $13K average in the late 2000s) I was therefore surprised to see $7K when I am sure most of us would have expect to see $10K+

So "faint tiny brown dot stains scattered throughout, including in the title area and in the head of the woman" do not warrant a 28% reduction? Personally, I would much prefer to pay the $10,000 instead for the one "in exceptional condition". Why do you feel $7,200 is a lesser result? I think it did great compared to the Heritage result.

I don't feel it is a 'lesser' result, just felt it was a bargain price considering all recent sales.
