Like he said.  Don't buy French posters, like ever...  They suck and chances are you will end up with a re-release.  Thank you.

T

I will stop looking for them.  :P

This looks like a RR (possible 1950's offset?). It has a very similar look, in color and style, to the 1950s French 1P RR.

I noticed, too, in the ebay ad title, that the seller describes this as a poster from 1934......

Curious, since the movie itself wasn't released until Dec, 1936 in the US and not until 1937, in Austria.   ;)

Yeah, I wondered.  The colors don't really say 1930s....Still, it is a very great looking poster!

it appears to me that it is an original release poster.

Absolutely legit, but not a such a good deal.  I was the underbidder on 3 of the seller's posters.  Got a second chance offer on 2 after what appeared to be shill bidding on all of his auctions.  Needless to say I got a second chance offer on two of them and decided to bite - but used my CC for the Paypal.  Needless to say weeks went by without contact so I got the cc company to rescind.  Seller's "wife" finally contacts saying hubby is seriously ill and might be back in two weeks.  Did a little more digging and one of the posters photo was lifted from an Austrian museum, stain for stain.

Would still love to have them if they actually exist, but I'd be really surprised if they do.

I wish the condition had been better, but it makes so much better use of the space than the domestic one.

hands-down the best poster on this title is the Personality Posters hand-screened 30x40
they did these by hand and they can range in size slightly by a couple inches or so upward, but are never under 30x40

the image is full bleed with only a title at bottom

I may have a copy in my Special Auction in June

Heritage has sold the poster once $3107

I'd recommend the 50th Anniversary commercial printing as well, described in this thread:

very nice & fair priced. I wish they had screen printed them though.. nothing beats the colors or quality of hand printing

I 100% will have the regular style one-sheet in my June Mini/Major Auction!

There is still a week left to consign, and if this auction gets any better, I will have to strongly consider dropping the "Mini" from its title!

This is a little/much over due as it makes small/big sense.

I have the pleasure of this poster in my possession right now.  I didn't buy it but I'm helping with shipping for a friend.  When it came in, you would have puked to see how poorly it was packed.  Alas, it is safe and beautiful notwithstanding how poor the seller is.
Best regards,

Holiday
