Sure it's iconic but this is ugly as F for over $1,000...

can't disagree with you on that one. my interest though in the film is mainly for fred and ginger, and all they've got on the WC are their names...only movie where ginger was billed over fred though, so i guess that's something.

Seller ended earlier the Leone poster previously seen in the mid-auction thread, if I recall right

Yup, all the good ones ended... the silver 4f as well and the Breakfast at Tiffany's.  As cool/rare as they were I didn't have my hopes up.

I hope none of you bought this one... $295 for a rolled Taxi Driver.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151010571060&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_669wt_1167

The NSS info had a different layout from all known copies I could find.  When I asked her to confirm the dimensions she found out today that it was only 27x40.  The seller then told me she that she couldn't end the auction (<24 hours) at that point, but that she would have a friend bid on it so no one else would win it.  However, given the rarity of a real rolled Taxi Driver I can imagine her friend might have not bid high enough!

Anyway, looks like it will be canceled regardless.

Matt, are vintage Taxi Driver posters also on paper that is that shiny and glossy?

A few of her images show a lot of reflected bounce back from her camera flash.

My folded copy is on thin semi-gloss 70s/early 80s stock.  Definitely not glossy.  This one looked wrong from the beginning to me, but I don't think the seller was trying to fool anyone.

I emailed her as well advising her that she was showing images of the reprint and that the dimensions of the poster were almost certainly 27 x 40. She later confirmed that it was indeed 27 x 40 and told me she would cancel the auction.

These kinds of stories and outcomes are great to read, as they show that some sellers may not know what they have, but, more importantly, will revise or remove an auction in order not to scam or fool anyone. (Hopefully, this happened here, too).

Hmmm, Loveland CO.  We lived in that small town for over 30 years.  I looked over her other items, and have a pretty good idea where she lives.  If I am right, I expect that she did not actually end the auction and somebody got took.

You can always pull a 'Mel' -- i.e. wait a few weeks for the feedback to be posted, figure out who the buyer was and then alert them.

Aren't the handles annonymized?  I've looked at my in-progress bids when I wasn't logged in and the first and last letters didn't match up with my username.

I believe that is correct. I have done the same. I'm assuming that they are consistent for a given auction (eg, a***o is always the same bidder), but not between auctions.

I think that I may have bought from this seller before as well, and it is indeed a she.  Though what I bought was not an item that I needed to worry about someone reprinting.
