Matt, what you're talking about is "good custodianship" of the material and a consideration about what you're doing to your customer's investment when they spend money. In the case of the Fairbanks poster, the first customer just lost $1200 (presuming all things are equal)

These sales aren't the same as slowly releasing material into the market to both support the pricing and to do as little damage to the market as possible over whatever period of time you're dealing it. If you have 50 copies of a poster, what benefit do you get by selling them all in the shortest time possible for ever decreasing amounts? Is it more beneficial to you to sell a $200 poster that you have 50 copies of for $200 three times a year for 15 years; or $200 one week, $150 a week later, $125 a week later until the 50th week when you're now selling it for $20?

Well, who knows.  I distinctly recall Heritage pumped out several hundred copies of The Mysterians last year on Ebay and they always got plenty of bids:

and Zombies of the Stratosphere.. what was bizarre was for the hoards of copies listed, there were only a small number of winning bidders who won many copies each, along with a certain number of individuals who also took them home.

however, the prices of generally under $40-60 is well under the retail prices of both posters historically
many of them are available at other dealer's ebay stores

I have no doubts.  Who is going to copy "Sudden Gentleman" posters at full size (not to mention the others and the six sheets)!?  Everything looks kosher to me...

What do you not like about the ink Charlie - just how 'shiny' it is?

When were they printed you think?  I am thinking they are some kind of reprint (maybe licensed)... The paper is wrong and the ink is wrong; just a hunch.  Correct me if I am wrong but the assumption is that they were printed in 1915?

I assume they are printed sometime in 1917 (the year of the movie).  Nothing looks wrong to me - they are just really fresh.

Again it does not make sense that these would be reprinted - licensed or otherwise!

Methinks the doubters are "digging in the wrong place," so to speak, given the overwhelming circumstantial evidence, especially with the three and six sheets - allegedly from the same "find" - being sold at the same time....

There have been many other examples of posters from this era, on both ebay and offered elsewhere, that have this look (very fresh, a bit shiny, and almost too good to be genuine). It all is a matter of where they were stored or kept.

No fading from sunlight, no foxing, moisture issues or water stains. As the seller stated, the paper was just a little brittle, causing some minor cross fold splits.

It sounds like these were in an attic or upper room of a theater, not exposed to light, moisture, and possibly folded and kept in a box or file cabinet. These copies were obviously also unused, so were extras that were set aside and forgotten about. It's always great to see posters like this be re-discovered and brought to light.  thumbup

On the flip side, just imagine the number of posters that were left in old theaters and then trashed - being seen as nothing more than paper clutter.  :'(

Rosa.. this is real stuff.. if you were here, I could show you quite a bit of material in posters and other paper items that look like they were printed yesterday. It's just a matter of storage and in that region the atmosphere is perfect for such preservation

Point take. Besides, for those who bought the posters and paid their good price, all that I can say is Alea Jacta Est
