Fark, just lost on a poster I wanted, a really ugly daybill, I put a snipe what I reckon is double what it's worth, and someone beat me, well I'll be. Maybe lesser hammer daybills are moving up.
Oh well, was just a variant for one I have no big deal,

Well if it happens that all of a sudden hammer daybills are the cool thing and are worth big bucks, I'll sell and start a serious Kramer vs Kramer collection.

Yep, everyone remember that when something is up, something else is down.

Buy westerns right now.

Agree that westerns seem to be ''cheap'' right now, in fact, there are a couple of westerns in Heritage that do look incredibly cheap..

But you can't forget the toher part of the equation.  Buy only what you love because it is impossible to speculate. The current dip in westerns may just be waiting for the next Clint Eastwood to emerge, or it might reflect a permanent change in tastes.  Those westerns may be waste paper for years to come.

I like some westerns, there's only a few I'd want a poster for though. I'm covered for Keoma, I wouldn't mind a BULLET FOR THE GENERAL some time, but it's not really stuff I look after or seriously go for.

Neither is animation, I have the iron giant advance as a keeper, that's about all I'm interested in I think.

Yes, I suppose you are right. But I only buy what I like anyway  not thinking much about what it might cost (if anything) in the future. Some people, like me are 'emotional' collectors. I buy posters, including westerns of those films I like (John Ford , High noon, etc )  some have rubbish graphics. I am yet to find a John Ford poster with great graphics  but hey..I just collect what I find or can afford.

That's the way.
I wish all the posters I want we're unpopular for ever, so I could keep collecting, not worry about money, and have no desire to sell when times are tough. One good thing about collecting paperbacks, they aren't worth the hassle to sell, so I don't feel any urge to try.

Ah!  Yes, the ones that have little value (to others)The problem is trying to explain to others who come around that those worthless and ugly posters  arent "rubbish"...!

I'm hoping westerns come down a little more myself.  Don't want but a couple, would like a good '20s or early '30s examples of Buck Jones, Hoot Gibson, or W.S. Hart, just for representin' purposes.

Wonder if Django will get a little boost when the Tarantino fanboys realise, (adios Uncle Tom would be asking too much)

Much of the western material has images that pop out.  If you stand back and look at the image itself and forget the genre and movie, I think they generally are better than the horror/monster paper that people go gaga over.  Of course that is just my opinion.  However, you can't argue that the impact/$$ is definitely there.

For example, here is a 3-sheet I picked up from Bruce for under $15

This auction in 2011 at emovieposter blew my mind.

Here's the mother of all signed auctions that got away. I picked the worst possible time to be on vacation. This is still my most stomache turning auction to miss. Soooo many great deals.

On the other hand, I participated in last year's Clint Eastwood/Star Wars auction, which ended two days after Mr. Eastwood's "chair debate". I attribute this to some of the crazy low prices. I scored an original italian 2P for around 40 bucks and a re-release

Ahh well, good news, emailed seller and he has a second copy.
I can sleep again.  Haha, teach me to bid MORE than double what I think something's worth if it's something I "need"
