In case anyone's interested, the Star Wars Identity posters made it online - in English or French:

Very very cool 27x41 color separations of ESB Style A.  Put 'em all together and you get the final.

I am definitely interested in picking up one of these. But I was wondering exactly what they were. I assume they were a hand drawn (by pencil) drawing made BY Tom Jung for the studio to show what he wanted the posters to look like - right? Or were these prints or done by someone else that Tom Jung just signed?

The late, great Jeff Jones told me how disappointed he was in Lucas, who asked him for a comp for the STAR WARS poster.
According to Jones, he came up with the design above but was not commissioned to do the poster and received no credit for the concept.

Jung is a terrific illustrator, but I think Jones would have done an even better job.
Just my 2 cents.

Found this article in the Time archives.  In May 1980 when ESB came out, Lucas told Time magazine that he was going to do a third trilogy about "the rebuilding of the republic."  In that same interview he clearly and accurately set out out what was going to happen in the first prequel trilogy. He said all three trilogies would be seen from the perspective of the droids.

I had heard that at least nine movies were vaguely planned but this interview was quite specific and 1980 was rather "late in the game." Since Lucas knew exactly what was going to happen in the prequel trilogy he should have had a pretty good idea about the third trilogy.  Later, of course, he claimed that it was always going to be the story of Darth Vader and the third trilogy never had a "story."

Someone needs to off Lucas before he and his throat skin decide it would now be great to make the 3rd trilogy

I wouldn't off him yet. It would be great if he does not direct anymore, but keeps trolling his neighbors. He's good at that  ;)

ESB quad has blown past the estimates.  Both Heritage and Star Wars Movie Poster website say this features Roger Kastel's artwork but it's clear that another artist redrew Kastel's art for the UK quad.  IMO the image is much "cruder" than Kastel's art:

This is Kastel's original artwork, as shown on the ESB album and the possible bootleg poster sold a couple of years ago:

A better question might be - who would ever drop $1,000 on that?  In my opinion, it belongs in the "text only boring as all hell" thread...

Nope, never seen one.

But once, some dude tried to sell me a miniature Vader bust he claimed was sculpted from Lucas' own navel lint.  He wanted $100.
I told him it was out of my price range, so I offered to trade him 16oz. of genuine Jabba urine and a Han Solo condom.
He said sure, but when I came out of the restroom he was gone.
Collectors and dealers....strange people.

These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one.
