A friend of mine is a professional photographer.  A lot of his work is environmental portraits and he asked to shoot me with my posters.  I thought y'all might get a kick out of it so I of course obliged :)

Lookin' good neo!  What is the one between nerds and el duderino?

Thanks.  That's Dancing at the Blue Iguana (2000), featuring Ms. Daryl Hannah.  I appreciate the artwork on the poster for its depiction of the Blue Iguana.  I was reading an interesting book, where the editors talk about an article by A. Perrucci (as cited in Holmes R. & Holmes S., 2002), "Considering the strip club as a microcosm of society, both men and women experience power and objectification, and the experience reflects the contradictions of life in this society.  In this article, women are not seen as pawns in the hands of men; rather, they control their destiny and gain both power and authority..."(p.9).

Love that room and the frames Matt.  Those look very professional.  I think we would all love to have our stuff professionally framed along those lines, but it is much too cost prohibitive.  Although, I still prefer black most of the time.

They can either be stained black, if you want to keep the grain, or painted black quite easily.  I was originally in favor of staining mine something like a cherry color.  However, we had to get these on the wall quickly for a holiday home tour and we didn't have time to stain them.  After living with them natural for a while we decided we quite like it.  I'll probably still try various finishes to see how any improvement in the look balances out with increased effort/cost.  I may also experiment with white foam core and/or a white finish.

Interestingly enough, the guy who showed me how to build these frames is an artist.  He said this is his go-to gallery frame.  When doing a show you often need to frame up in excess of 10-20 pieces, possibly a few times a year if you are productive (and successful).  These simple pine frames are gallery-ready (even ending up in collections like MOMA), decor-neutral and wall-ready if the purchaser wants to get it up asap, but at the same time are inexpensive enough to guiltlessly toss if/when you decide to re-frame to better match your door.  It was a compelling enough description to sell me on them!
